by
Yayoi Kusama
reading in2011
, September 04, 2012
This is a wonderful and timely autobiography by the the conceptional artist and writer Yayoi Kusama. Currently the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City is having a retrospective of her work. Ms. Kusama Is a 83 year old Japanese born artist who spend much of the 1960’s making feminist art and “happenings” in New York City. For lovers of the 1960’s American art movement and for readers interested in of the feminist movement this is a must read. Ms. Kusama’s autobiography is an easy read. She goes into great detail about what her installations and “happenings” meant to her and why she created them. Even more revealing for fans of Surrealist artist, Joseph Cornell she gives the reader an intimate and personal account of her relationship with him.

This was a wonderful book about what and how reading influenced this writer. In 2010 I read a book by Stephen King about writing that I thought was wonderful , as well.
