Treeline The Last Forest & the Future of Life on Earth
by
Ben Rawlence

I LOVE this book! Ben Rawlence travels around the globe studying the Northernmost Boreal forest and writing poetically about the natural history, political history, and the rapid changes under climate change. Each chapter tells the story through the frame of the dominant tree species and how that came to be. The book is a marvel at teaching about the interconnectedness of our world, and how nature is doing all she can to respond to the rapidly changing crisis. This big picture of time and Life, helps me deal with the grief of all that we are losing, and helps me reevaluate my place in the changing world we live in. How might I contribute to the changing consciousness that humans must evolve if we are to live in a world of living beings, awe inspiring creation, as a participant in the glory of life, not a bringer of destruction with our unconscious exploitative industrial ways.

Excellent! poetic writing to the heart of the the Palestinian Israeli conflict and the longing to overcome this century long war. Also beautiful writing about the sacredness of our interfaith connections.

Kickdown

This excellent novel! written by an established investigative journalist who has researched the very real situation of Fracking pollution, & related deaths of livestock and illnesses in communities, is a real page turner! Moves quickly and still develops depth of characters and their love stories. McClarren weaves science and love stories and drama so well that I am sending it to my 90 year old mother, who doesn't have the patience for science, but Looooves Love stories. I highly recommend this for those interested in a well written story and some facts about the tragedy of Fracking. Buy a NEW copy if you can! used copies don't get any money to the author for their work.

New Money for a New World
by
Bernard Lietaer, Stephen Belgin

As someone passionately concerned about the environment, social justice, health, and job opportunity for all who desire to work (like all these unemployed college grads with steep ridiculous college debt), I've been studying the economic issues for a few years and B. Lietaer put it all together in this exquisite masterpiece! World history was never so accessible and compelling, add sociology, psychology, systems theory, and written for the lay person to get excited about the possibilities to get out of our economic mess. Compelling! and a must read for anyone frightened about our current predicament and looking for a solution. Best antidepressant I have found. Lots of work ahead- for people who need work :) A way to let money reflect our values!
