Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. Leaping Revelations & Epiphanies

Brian Doyle is one of the most thought-filled writers whom I have had the good fortune to find and read and read again. His insight made me laugh out loud and brought tears to my eyes. Take a "leap of faith" and read this book; I have read it three times.

Is this supposed to be a typical teenage life story? I pray it is not!!!!! The way that the CHILD in this novel speaks about her parents is so disrespectful, disgusting, and mean that I couldn't finish reading it. I hope that my daughters would have the closeness and courage and respect to talk to me about what is bothering them, instead of jabbering on mindlessly to their friends about me. Two thumbs down on this one.

Anne Frank The Diary Of A Young Girl TV Tie in

I was so moved by this book that I cried and immediately told both of my daughters about it (they are 12 and 11 years old). This led to a discussion about World War 2 and what it meant to be Jewish then and what predjudice means. I hope that all parents will consider reading it and discussing it with their kids.

A classic help for the student, writer, journalist, editor, or someone learning English as a second language.
