I absolutely love this book. My mother gave it to me when I was much, much younger and while it didn't inspire me to race into the kitchen right then and start making things, it definitely planted a seed that has finally germinated. I am very much a cook these days, and I credit my mother and this book for giving me the ideas and the interest to get me to this point. I highly recommend this book, especially to young girls who will adore Fanny, to anyone who wants to help spark a cooking interest in a child.

I borrowed this book from a schoolteacher friend after hearing her and another friend of mine rave about it. I was really, really impressed by the book and the author for creating such an interesting, thought-provoking, and provocative YA novel. I'm halfway through the second book in the series and cannot put it down. Well done, Ms. Collins!
