Beautiful book that is both written story and picture book. Two stories (one in written form and the other in picture form) from two different time periods woven together into a touching conclusion. I loved the story but the pencil-drawn story line pictures are the true masterpiece. Looking forward to the movie adaptation but not sure how it can possibly hold a candle to this one-of-a-kind book.

Pretty Tough Plants 135 Resilient Low Water Choices for a Beautiful Garden
by
Plant Select

Pretty Tough Plants is a fantastic addition to my plant material library. Plant Select has done a great job researching and developing beautiful, resilient showstoppers for many high mountain gardens like mine in Boise, Idaho. The plants are not only tough and attractive, many are waterwise, deer resistant, and great for pollinators. Every plant has a full page spread with color photographs and easy-to-read plant features and botanical information. Pretty Tough Plants is a must have for Western Gardeners!

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. It was a bit anxiety-inducing but I like how it made me think about all the things we take for granted...lights, warm water, A/C, cell phones, the internet, air planes, etc. Which in a matter of days can disappear. But I really liked how the author went back and forth before the pandemic and after and wove all the character's stories together. Best book I have read this year.
