In our age of text and email this giant collection of letters is a most welcome reminder of a different time. A time when grammar, intellect and humor ruled the day. There is practical wisdom, joy, sorrow, pain, laughter and tears in this collection--documentation of a life fully lived. A life fully lived with time to hand write correspondence! Wild Comfort The Solace of Nature

This book stays with you long after reading. Written with the eye and the heart of poet/philosopher/naturalist, the slender book is rich with keen heartfelt observations. I go back to this book again and again and find something new each time. A must for any PNW bookshelf.
