PTSD Workbook Simple Effective Techniques for Overcoming Traumatic Stress Symptoms

This is THE best workbook I've found to do with trauma/PTSD! (And I have a fair library of them.) It's the main one I recommend, particularly in that it deals very well not only with various symptoms of PTSD, but also with teaching techniques such as specific ways of dealing with flashbacks/memories- not one way, but a number of them, so that the reader has options to chose from. I'm also really impressed that it deals extensively with Complex-PTSD, and the further chapters of the book are focused on that and the deeper problems arising from that (they're also quite useful to the reader who doesn't have C-PTSD, as they're on topics like anger, dealing with intense emotions, self-harm, etc.). There's extremely little out there for the lay-person dealing with C-PTSD, and this is actually *useful*!

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Sourcebook A Guide to Healing Recovery & Growth

I found this book quite helpful, even though I am well-read and knowledgeable to begin with on trauma and PTSD. The writing is clear and would be easy to read even for someone with no background in psychology/trauma etc, and there is ample info on many of the problems caused by PTSD and ways to deal with them. That being said, I sincerely wish it had talked more about things like Complex-PTSD and the effects of long-term, on-going trauma and how that greatly *differs* from single or repeated incident trauma, especially as it claimed to be comprehensive on the subject of PTSD in general. I feel that was a major lack, which could be really problematic for readers dealing with more severe/complex trauma and not understanding why they don't "fit in" to the definitions/symptoms etc. covered. Despite that, I would recommend it, with the caveat to whoever read it that it is missing that and some more up-to-date info in the field.
