Excellent illustrations and a story line that keeps you wanting more. I love graphic novels! I am always on the hunt for my next good read and was pulled in by the cover at the library. This one did not disappoint. The details and thought put into the content is much appreciated and clever. I absolutely love how the animals are selected for their stereotypical qualities and morphed into human versions based off this. The stories hit on social issues of debate: race, politics and class... BUT with the classic charm of the 1940-50’s as the backdrop (looove it!). Definitely adding this to my collection!

Fifth Sacred Thing

Absolutely loved this novel! It was taken in slow, digestible pieces, as not to finish it too quickly. Often I would pause, so it could be meditated on, let the anticipation build until I had to read just a bit more. Oh the joy, the sorrow, such a beautiful balance of both. Has one wishing it could go on and on. A special place in my collection now and one I am happy to share and pass along.

This quickly became one of our favorite books and my new go to grab for a gift. The illustrations are beautiful and the story inspiring, just a well rounded read that leaves one feeling good when the last page flips.

One Grain of Rice A Mathematical Folktale

A beautiful tale of wisdom outwitting greed. The story shows the effect of doubling, starting with one grain of rice, transforming to two grains of rice... with over a billion grains of rice after 30 days in the end! This book has lovely illustrations with vivid color and hints of gold, each page beautifully depicting the increase of rice by having different animals each day haul the load. I had heard this tale before but the cultural influence of India only adds to the charm and wit of this classic.

One of our favorite books! The tale of two best friends who are inseparable, but after a mishap leaves one injured, they find themselves separated. The time apart soon brings them closer together, each growing stronger as an individual and now with more wonderful experiences to share together! There are clever uses of word play and wonderful illustrations, which make this book an easy grab before bed.

Your Farm in the City An Urban Dwellers Guide to Growing Food & Raising Animals

For the beginning gardener, this is a great book to add to your collection, as it is a wealth of knowledge. It has wonderful illustrations of the produce and realistic images of the many insects and animals that you may encounter. There is a lot of information on many topics that may be of interest to you when considering sustainable living: from the basics of composting and soil, to general things you want to consider when having livestock. It's easy to read and understand, has many random tid-bits about gardening through-out and the interesting page layouts and graphics make it fun to flip through. If your looking for a book to reference time and time again, this is the book, as it is easy to navigate and the illustration are very helpful. If you are hoping for a "do-it-yourself" type of book, this wouldn't be my first choice, though it does have some and it does lead you to pursue projects, it isn't a step by step, multi-project focused type of read.
