Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. Nate 01 Better Nate Than Ever

Nate goes to New York for the day to audition for a musical, his ultimate dream. The problem is he is only 12 and his parents don't know he is going. His best, and pretty much only, friend helps him sneak away. Once there he meets his aunt his mother never talks to and her roommate. His aunt helps him with his first part of the audition and then ends up supporting him as he gets callback after callback. Nate's audition and the process he goes through is heartbreaking, hilarious and unpredictable. There are several moments in the story that are a bit hard to believe but that still doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

Bake Sale

Bake sale has great drawings. At first it seems weird to have food being the characters of a story. But as you read the story, it seems to be sort of normal, albeit humorous. The story is very sweet. It’s about Cupcake and Eggplant, two very good friends. They help each other out and do some fun baking in the process. There are recipes at the end so you can make what the two friends made.
