Rosemary: The Hidden Kennedy Daughter
by
Kate Clifford Larson

, April 03, 2017
This is a fascinating read! The author does draw her own conclusions on Rosemary's condition, and that is evident as the material is presented, but she does a fantastic job of researching the history of the Kennedy family and presenting material from primary sources- even when the material contradicts her opinion. Historical background is provided to set the stage without being overshadowing, and though the other Kennedy children are referenced it all ties back neatly to Rosemary. Fair warning, the description of the lobotomy procedure is so detailed that it had the hair on the back of my neck standing on end. Definitely a must read for anyone interested in the Kennedy family!

Shadows of the Workhouse The Drama of Life in Postwar London
by

This book takes you into the heart of postwar east London. Jennifer Worth delivers her anecdotes with unflinching clarity, painting scenes that are both heartwarming and skin-crawling. Her writing is so descriptive that it's as if the reader is standing in the book. I found myself falling in love with the characters, and crying and laughing alongside them. Definitely one I'm going to re-read over and over again!

Fire Bringer

This is the kind of book that will have you staying up hours after you should have been asleep, promising yourself that you'll read just one more chapter. Then there's another cliff hanger, or another plot twist, and before you know it your alarm is telling you it's time to wake up. It's a fantastic adventure story that contains all of the elements of the Hero's Journey, along with a fantastic set of characters. The imagery is brilliant, the characters are well fleshed out, and Clement-Davies does an amazing job of setting the tone for each scene. A must read for anyone who loves adventure!
