Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. Pillars of the Earth

Ken Follett

This book is extremely well written and I enjoyed it immensely. I wish that it had not sat on my bookshelf for 2 years, being afraid to start a 1000+ page novel. I simply could not put the book down once I started reading it and was sad when I finished it. Definitely one to re-read. I have read other Follett novels, but none hold a candle to this one.

Getting Started Knitting Socks

This is a must have book for sock knitters. I learned how to knit my first pair of socks from this book. Instructions are very plain and easy to follow. My copy is sure to be dogged-eared and tattered in no time. Highly recommended.

My Prison Without Bars

Pete Rose

I am only 1/2 way through this book and I am once again in awe of Pete Rose. The determination to be the best started at a very early age and it he carried it through out his life. It has brought back great memories of watching the Reds playing in the 70's when I was just a kid/pre-teen. A must read for baseball lovers and others. Thank you Pete for telling your story.
