Raising Baby Green The Earth Friendly Guide to Pregnancy Childbirth & Baby Care
by
Greene, Alan

, June 18, 2009
I recently had my first child, and got this book a few months before she was born. I read it cover to cover, and still refer to it frequently. I appreciate its tone and clarity. No discussion is overly or unnecessarily lofty, but the entire book is still quite thorough and covers most topics in depth. My favorite part is probably that the author provides so many references for further information.

Mozart's Letters, Mozart's Life
by
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
jz
, November 01, 2006
A great introduction to Mozart's life, family, and travels. This new English translation provides a more easily accessible version than Emily Anderson's classic edition from 1966. Spaethling has tried to preserve Mozart's own voice by including (rather than "fixing") the original conversational sentence structure, phonetic spellings, and coarse language.

Bing Crosby A Pocketful of Dreams The Early Years 1903 1940
by
Gary Giddins

, November 01, 2006
A great biography that lends insight into not only the life of Bing Crosby, but also the popular music industry of the time. Giddins is a terrific writer. This is no dry, dull reference volume but an easily read, honest view of an interesting man and his career.
