Elusive Truth of Lily Temple
by
Joanna Davidson Politano
Elly
, April 17, 2024
I don’t even know how to begin to describe The Elusive Truth of Lily Temple. Lighthearted and Deep. Whimsical and grounded. Mysterious and familiar. Heartbreaking and joyful. This book was a romance, but it was also an allegory of the depth of Jesus’ love for us and the great lengths that He goes in his steady, persistent pursuit for the hearts of mankind. This book was impossible to put down, from the moment I began to read the first page. The author has a way with words that just thrilled my soul with every well-crafted sentence and, though I laughed and cried and deliriously smiled my way to an everything-I-could-hope-for-and-more sigh of satisfaction at the ending, I closed this book with a longing. A deep yearning for more. More poetic prose to peruse, more tangible truth to touch, more surprising stories to search out. This novel was top-notch! Author Joanna Davidson Politano is a masterful storyteller! This was my first book by her, but I’m addicted. I need more! A hundred stars, top recommendation!

Shoot at the Sunset
by
Kathleen Denly
Elly
, April 09, 2024
I loved this book! Preston and Lucy both drew me and made me love them immediately. With a diverse cast of secondary characters and a suspenseful plot, Shoot at the Sunset kept me fully engaged until the final word of the epilogue. Various characters dealt with different aspects of the feelings of inadequacy and helplessness to change who they’d become due to the circumstances they’d been thrust into. But the faith messages of finding your worth in Christ and nothing being impossible with God were heartthrilling reminders that no one is beyond hope and that even the lowest of people in the lowest of places can find life and forgiveness, if given a second chance. With suspense, romance, danger and themes of hope and forgiveness, this novel was thrillingly captivating and well worth the read! Highly recommended!

Protecting the Mountain Man's Treasure
by
Misty M. Beller
Elly
, March 03, 2024
I loved Jude and Angela’s story! The premise (amnesia and a pretend marriage) was so fun! I really enjoyed Angela’s journey to discovering the way that God sees her and the realization that His is the only approval she needs and her worth is not found in the acceptance of faulty, flawed man. Jude was both a solid presence and an understanding shoulder to lean on. Definitely a hero to root for! And with Author Misty M. Beller’s signature dash of adventure and wilderness journeying, Protecting the Mountain Man’s Treasure had everything to make this a very satisfying read! The little tidbits we get to see in here of some other characters that I was curious about from the previous novel have me excited about the next upcoming book in the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series as well!

The Irish Matchmaker
by
Jennifer Deibel
Elly
, February 17, 2024
This was such a fun book! I really enjoyed getting to know Donal, Catriona and Sara, as well as a lively supporting cast. The author has a way with words that really makes the characters and imagery come to life! The story was a beautiful illustration of casting our cares upon God and trusting Him to provide for our needs. The matchmaking festival was intriguing to learn about and to get to explore through the pages of this novel. I recommend The Irish Matchmaker to all readers who enjoy tales of Ireland, matchmaker stories and books featuring tenacious little girls as prevalent side characters!

All My Secrets
by
Lynn Austin
Elly
, February 06, 2024
This story was a lovely, fresh look at how our lives, no matter how broken, can be made into something beautiful if we give ourselves over to the Lord’s will and allow Him to direct our paths, choosing to use the gifts He has given each of us to help others and glorify Him. Like the petals of a flower, slowly unfurling, the characters take us on a journey through their lives, all of their hopes and dreams, the bubbly intensity and also tragedies of first love, how families and their choices can shape a young life forever… How your response to a situation, your reactions in both the good and the bad times, can cause a ripple effect and leave a lasting influence on the lives of countless others around you. All My Secrets has a unique storyline that engulfed me right through to the last page! I love the dynamics of Junietta, Sylvia and Adelaide’s relationship and the growth expressed by each of them throughout the book. And I came to care deeply about each of them! I relished the slow revelation of secrets, both shocking and tragic, that played out across the pages as I progressed, spiraling first downward, only to begin the steady march back up, igniting a flicker of hope in my heart that had grown into a cozy hearth-fire by the end. This was storytelling at its best!

Up from Dust: Martha's Story
by
Heather Kaufman
Elly
, January 23, 2024
I have not read a story that has elicited so many emotions from me, one right after the other (and with such strength!), as this book has done in a long time. The adherence to Biblical accuracy was astounding and really enhanced my enjoyment of the story immensely. I loved that the author was able to take several very familiar Biblical accounts and weave them into the events of the story in such a way that they felt so fresh, like I was seeing them in a completely new way! This book gets a DEFINITE recommendation from me. It was sooo good! It was not typical and it really stood out in a unique way. I am totally enamored with Up from Dust and will be impatiently awaiting whatever this author will be offering us next with the Women of the Way series! I was provided an advance reader copy by the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Calling on the Matchmaker
by
Jody Hedlund
Elly
, December 12, 2023
This book was very good. I loved the heart for helping others that both of the main characters had. It was really beautiful! The depth of both Riley and Finola’s pain and the way that they both tried to make up for the past on their own was very relatable. This story was a good lesson in realizing that there is only One Who is truly in control, and we need to learn to give over our pain to Him, letting Him heal and lead us into the future He has planned for each of us. I really enjoyed the cast of diverse characters and their different story arcs. And the matchmaker! I honestly wasn’t sure which “matchmaker” the title was referring to at first, but I’m intrigued now! He’s such a mysterious and fascinating character and I can’t WAIT to see what match he comes up with next and the methods he employs to bring his clients together!

Rocky Mountain Promise
by
Misty M. Beller
Elly
, November 23, 2023
I LOVED Tanner and Lorelei’s story! What a fantastic contribution to the Sisters of the Rockies series! The romance to angst/adventure ratio was perfect. Throw in several sweet animals, including a particularly adorable white buffalo calf, and I was a goner! I was a big fan of Tanner’s determined attitude and Lorelei’s loving and caring personality. These two were a couple to root for, for sure. I could definitely see a few sequels shaping up in this book and it’s got me excited to see how the last two sisters’ stories will turn out! Mrs. Beller has proven, once again, to be a talented author that I just keep coming back to again and again for more!

What a happily surprising gem of a story I found in Healing the Mountain Man’s Heart! Reminiscent of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, this book had me laughing, cheering and looking on anxiously at the number of medical emergencies to occur! I couldn’t put this novel down and had a fantastic time living every moment of it. I will be looking forward to the next book in the Brothers of Sapphire Ranch series with great anticipation, I can’t wait to see what surprises are in store for the Coulter family next!

Voice of the Ancient

Connilyn Cossette
Elly
, August 16, 2023
Love, love, loved! Ms. Cossette continues to astound with her novels, and Voice of the Ancient is no exception! I mourned and urged on Keziah’s escape from a lonely and abusive situation. I cheered and ached for Avidan’s brotherhood with his cousins. I was on the edge of my seat, halting halfway between horror and hope with every turn of the page! Every time something felt so far from resolution, it was really oh-so-close. And each time it seemed the answers would be right around the corner, the unexpected would shove it almost beyond hope of reach! I could NOT put this book down and eagerly soaked in every lingering moment of it. I will be awaiting the next books in The King’s Men series enthusiastically!

Love Script
by
Toni Shiloh
Elly
, August 01, 2023
Author Toni Shiloh has done it again, this time set in big-time Hollywood! This story about a fake (but also never-really-fake) relationship was excellently executed! Well beyond just being a fun time (though it was that!), this story portrayed a realistic faith and identity struggle, with conflicting thoughts and emotions that really set you to thinking. What things do we truly do for God? And what things do we only “say” we’re doing for Him, to justify what we’re really doing only for ourselves? Definitely both fun and thought-provoking (with plenty of movie-quote humor in between), this book had me enraptured and I am looking forward to the next “Love in the Spotlight” novel!

This book was excellent! Rich in historical content and mystifying in content, I was enamored by the cast of characters and their journey. The people, places, relationship dynamics and cultural curiosities made for a dynamic and attention-arresting read. The story was excellent and there was more than one jaw-dropping and unexpected twist! I could not be more satisfied with book one in The Emissaries series and will be eagerly anticipating the next addition!

Rocky Mountain Rendezvous
by
Misty M. Beller
Elly
, June 06, 2023
Rocky Mountain Rendezvous was a delightful surprise! I’d never heard of the actual historical Rendezvous and loved being introduced to some interesting facts of history through this novel! Juniper and her sisters were so fun to read about and, growing up in a family with a lot of sisters myself, I found it rather entertaining to compare the interactions between them with the experience I have with my own sisters. So much fun! Riley and his crew of friends were just as exciting to get to know as well! Ms. Beller never fails to create a diverse array of intriguing characters, relationships you can’t help but care about, danger and adventure that keeps you on your toes and a happily ever after worth rooting for!

Murmur in the Mud Caves
by
Kathleen Denly
Elly
, May 16, 2023
What a fun book! I haven’t read the others in the series, but this one stood on its own two feet. The characters were lively and the harsh conditions and constant threat of danger kept me on my toes the whole read through! Gideon and Biddie, though expressed in different ways, both struggle with being good enough and allowing themselves and others to accept them for who they are and not what they can contribute. This was a beautiful story about seeing yourself through God’s eyes and letting that be enough. The challenging desert environment and one especially crabby sister added a lot of fun background and excitement to the story! All of these elements blended together to create such a fun story, that I couldn’t put it down!

What a sweet story! I loved the honesty, understanding and acceptance between the hero and heroine. It was so refreshing! The adventure and danger, as well as a diverse cast of characters, kept the story rolling steadily from start to finish and had me zipping through this novel in short order. This was a book, both fun and endearing, that is definitely worth the read! (And don’t forget to look up the bonus epilogue, once you’ve finished. It helps to wrap up a few loose threads and adds such a sweet ending!)

Dawn's Untrodden Green
by
Carolyn Miller
Elly
, April 11, 2023
I loved it so much! This book was everything you hope for in a Regency novel. Angsty situations, witty banter and a moral dilemma that must be reckoned with…but not before the whole house (and town!) are all in uproar! After finishing Dawn’s Untrodden Green, I am one supremely satisfied Regency reader! (If my sigh of contentment could translate satisfactorily to words, it would be inserted right here.) The author’s presentation of this historical era, along with an excellent handle on the vocabulary and phraseology of the time, made this story an absolute delight to ingest! Very happy reader here, excellent read!

The Widow's Cloak: A Russell Family Novella
by
Lynne Tagawa
Elly
, April 01, 2023
I LOVED this story! I’m astounded at Ms. Tagawa’s incredible talent for merging historical detail, enthralling storytelling and a diverse cast of characters and personalities! All of these elements have been woven together seamlessly in this powerful novella about the realization of how Jesus’ sacrifice can cover all of our past mistakes and give us freedom to embrace the future fearlessly. Iain and Mary, along with the invaluable host of side characters, were easy to immediately care for and left me anticipating what would happen to them next! The setting was beautiful and, with the perfect balance of description and action, I was hopelessly immersed from start to finish! I cannot stress enough just how much I have enjoyed this author’s work, and encourage others to read and see for themselves! p.s. The historical tidbits at the end were an awesome supplement! I love it when authors add those little extras!

The Maid of Ballymacool
by
Jennifer Deibel
Elly
, February 23, 2023
The Maid of Ballymacool swept me away to another era with striking ease. The feelings were conveyed so naturally and the descriptions of time and place came across as such accessible and seemingly effortless prose that I was no longer just reading the story, I was fully immersed and became a part of it! This book was amazing! I loved Brianna and the whole host of lovable and quirky characters that brought this story to life. The storyline of an overworked and under-appreciated maid, who still boasts a cheerful and thankful spirit, has got to be one of my absolute favorites! I am SO enamored with this book and the truly stunning talent that I’ve discovered in Author Jennifer Deibel! Though this was my first book by her, I am already a huge fan of her style and will be looking to read the rest of what she has available, along with keeping an eye out for what comes next from her!

Daughter of Eden: Eve's Story
by
Jill Eileen Smith
Elly
, February 15, 2023
I am so enamored with this book that I can’t even begin to know where to start! Just reading Eve’s story, I can tell that a lot of thought and prayer went into this book. I. Absolutely. LOVED it! Not only was the story of her life all-encompassing, but it really made me think and consider things about how difficult and strange things must’ve been back then. Yet the same struggles and ups and downs present then, are what we still experience today. I was pleasantly surprised at the range of Eve’s life that this novel covered, along with the different aspects of interest along the way. I loved the additional perspectives scattered throughout of Adam, Cain, etc., along with the portions from the Unseen Realm! Those bits really kept things in perspective and were a good reminder of what everything in this life is ultimately all about! So now I’ve gotta go make sure EVERYONE reads this book, because it really is just so incredible! I had read Ms. Smith’s A Passionate Hope some time ago (Hannah’s story) and enjoyed it a lot too. I have now been reminded just how much I really LOVE this author’s work! Daughter of Eden is definitely going up there with some of my favorite Biblical fiction! It’s sooo worth the read!

Last Chance Cowboy
by
Jody Hedlund
Elly
, February 14, 2023
Catherine has got to be one of my favorite heroines of this series! (Although, how can I even say that when I’ve loved ALL of them so much?!) I was enthralled by all of the characters in this story. From charming, determined and regretful Dylan, to innocent, caring and insecure Catherine, to sweet little baby Austin. Even the stoic and faithful Stu and his helpful and motherly wife, Trudy! Add in all the rest of the McQuaid relatives and this cast of characters was phenomenal! But don’t let this stellar lineup of personalities fool you into thinking that they are the only thing worth picking up this book for. No! The storyline, too, was heartrending, hopeful, angsty and just plain awesome! No sooner would I put my book down to do “life”, than I found my eyes drifting back to that enticing cover and wishing I could hop right back into it! I had a seriously hard time putting this book down. No question about it, The Last Chance Cowboy was a five-star read and has solidified Author Jody Hedlund as a must-read author for me for future releases!

The Rose and the Thistle
by
Laura Frantz
Elly
, January 08, 2023
I am again undone by Ms. Frantz’s powerful storytelling and the rich detail and prose lent to this slow-burn romance set in the Scottish lowlands. Everything about this book was phenomenal! Blythe’s gentle, yet bold, love and loyalty, along with her personality of patient persistence made for a character that I found to be highly admirable. And Everard’s ability to take command in a tough situation, while still remaining compassionate, considerate and wise, was an immediate draw towards him for me. Plus, who could resist that Scottish brogue?! I laughed aloud, nearly cried, felt my heart swell with the fullness of understanding, was nearly lifted from my seat by the beauty of it all and ached with sympathy for the wrongs imposed. The Rose and the Thistle (don’t you just LOVE that title?!) had everything in it that I could’ve wanted. Supremely satisfying! Five stars!

Engaging Deception

Regina Jennings
Elly
, December 14, 2022
Ms. Jennings has, once again, woven an incredible story which refused to be put down! Olive Kentworth is a heroine that I was able to really relate to. I love it when I find that in a book! I was so caught up in enjoying the story that unfolded with her and Maxfield that I found myself approaching the end of the book long before I was ready to have arrived there. The Kentworth cousins were as meddlesome and outrageous as ever and I just wish that this series could go on forever! Author Regina Jennings has become one of my favorite authors to read and I look forward to each new book I read by her with incredibly high anticipation! This is a series not to be missed! Highly Recommended!!!

Great story! I loved Damien and the mysteriousness that was lent to his background. He was a hurt and struggling, yet strong and determined man. Charlotte was a heroine worthy of the title, tentative, yet courageous and full of love and care for those around her. This book was amazing! Ivy is bullheaded and reckless and Jericho is a bossy brat…and I love them both for it! I was enraptured by the story and found Ivy’s thoughts and feelings so relatable at times, that I actually found myself tearing up. Isn’t it great when a story is so good that it brings out the emotions in you? Confession time. I knew I was going to love this book before I even started it. With how enthralled I’ve been over each of the previous books in the series, there was no way this one was going to disappoint, lol, but what really surprised me was just how in tune I felt with Ivy’s heart. With plenty of action, mishaps, witty banter and charming characters, this is a book you will definitely not want to miss! Author Jody Hedlund has comprised a tale that is sure to satisfy lovers of all things western, high spirited and adventurous. Highly recommended!

The Apostle's Sister
by
Angela Hunt
Elly
, June 07, 2022
The Apostle’s Sister is one of the best Biblical fiction novels that I’ve read in a long time. Both thoughtful and deep, it kept me immersed in Sha’ul and Aya’s lives right through to the very last page! I loved being able to delve into the lives of the apostle Paul and his sister and follow their journeys from legalistic Jews to believers in Christ. What a fascinating time and culture! I cannot say enough just how thoroughly I enjoyed this unique story! I did not read the first three books in the Jerusalem Road series before reading this one, as they seemed to be totally unrelated and I did not deem it necessary. And this story did indeed stand on its own two feet, without giving me the feeling that I was missing anything. This was my first Angela Hunt novel, but it certainly will not be my last! This author has captivated me with the depth of her research, the strength of her storytelling and the boldness of her faith that shines throughout her writing. I will be on the lookout for more of her books to enjoy in my future reading endeavors! (p.s. Be sure to read the Q and A at the end for some fascinating reasoning and explanations related to the story!)

A Healer’s Promise is a beautiful follow-up novel to the first in the Brides of Laurent series, A Warrior’s Heart. It is a great reminder that, in the end, the truth will set you free. Audrey drew me in from the first book, so I was very pleased to be able to read this one, which focused in on her. She’s so gentle and kind and it makes you want to be her best friend! And Levi Masters is such a noble and upright man that you can’t help but admire him. This was such a heartwarming story and written in a very easy-to-read style. It was like a hug, warm and uplifting. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to read it! Bravo to Ms. Beller for such a beautiful story!

Once again, I found myself completely engrossed in one of Ms. Hedlund’s Colorado Cowboys books and unable to put it down! I was a huge fan of Savannah and her tender heart toward animals and broken or wounded creatures of all kinds. Brody was a perfect blend of strength and brokenness, just enough of each to keep you completely enamored with his character and wanting to stick as closely by his side as you possibly can throughout the entire adventure I LOVED this book! Author Jody Hedlund is a very talented author who possesses the ability to both make you care about her characters fiercely and bring the settings to life in a vivid way that drops you straight into the middle of the mud and dust and snowstorms of her imagination. I couldn’t recommend this enough! Excellent book!

We get to learn more about Colette’s brothers-in-law, Hugh and Louis, as well as getting to dig deeper into the mind of Otskai’s cousin, Watkuese. I found all of the characters and their journey back to Watkuese’s village both compelling and exciting. There was a good mixture of giggles, tears, danger and sweet moments. Nate and Laura’s story is one of hope and healing and forgiveness when it feels impossible. I’ve really enjoyed Author Misty M. This book was so good! I was completely enveloped in this story from start to finish! Brielle, along with her friends and family, pulled me in and kept me flipping pages in an effort to find out what would happen next and how everything would turn out! The setting was amazing and I really felt like I was taking a trip to a tropical paradise with the characters. I fell in love with Bri’s grandfather, the king, right alongside our heroine and one aspect I really loved was the close friendship between Brielle and Iris and their shared faith that made it so much stronger. Reminiscent of Princess Diaries, this book was a blast! I really came to care for the characters and could almost feel the things they were going through myself, as I read. Author Toni Shiloh did an awesome job of making this story and its characters relatable on so many levels and I am astounded! I really enjoyed this novel and am very happy to have gotten to read In Search of a Prince as my debut into this author’s work!

Whew! I got down to nearly the very last page there and wasn’t sure how things could possibly wrap up satisfactorily! I enjoyed this book immensely. With its slow build, it was a very enjoyable change of pace from the last few books I’ve read recently. And did I mention I’m in love with lighthouses?!? So, win-win, lol! Author Laura Frantz has an extraordinary knack for taking historical settings and breathing life into them. Her stories really make the past come alive in a way that I’ve seldom experienced. I loved the captain and I loved Esmée, along with a whole slew of fun side characters! The colonial seaside and island settings had me enraptured and the storytelling and attention to detail in wording was almost poetic, it was so pretty! I look forward to Ms. Frantz’s next release extremely enthusiastically!

Oh. Wow. Now, I am not typically a big contemporary fiction fan (although, yes, this was a time travel novel, so it did also include historical portions), but I even enjoyed the modern day areas of this story SOOOO much! In fact, there was a greater part of the book that took place within the present timeframe than did in the past, unlike the first book in the series, Come Back to Me. And yet I still ADORED this one! Author Jody Hedlund is certainly going to stay on my radar for any future time travel books she may release! She handles it INCREDIBLY well! I have loved both of the books in her Waters of Time series so far and am expectantly looking forward to whatever she may have coming our way next!

Honor in the Mountain Refuge was such a fun book! I loved all of the feeling and suspense packed into this shorter volume. Book six in the Call of the Rockies series takes a step away from using our friends from the original group of travelers as the main characters to focus on a hero and heroine from the Blackfoot and Nimiipuu peoples, respectively. I loved them both! This story was excellently done and don’t worry! We get plenty of interaction with the others from the previous novels in the series. I enjoyed this addition greatly and am looking forward to the next!

Wow! I’m so excited about this book! Aside from Freedom in the Mountain Wind (the first book in the Call of the Rockies series), this is my FAVORITE so far! I don’t know what it was about this one that captivated me so much, lol. Maybe it was the band of braves and their stoic constancy. Maybe it was Jean-Jacques and his steady determination and unwillingness to give up. Or maybe it was Colette and her need to always do more than was necessary, to try and make things right, to always feel like she had never quite done as well as she should or as much as she might have. This is a very relatable feeling, I think, for many people, especially women and mothers. Author Misty M. Beller did an excellent job of portraying the need to let go of trying to be perfect and make the right choices alone, and learn to rely on God and come to Him for answers and direction.

Such a heartfelt story! I really enjoyed Courage in the Mountain Wilderness. Caleb is such a good guy and Otskai’s son, River Boy, was adorable and unable to keep out of trouble for more than two minutes at a time, lol. This journey of healing and trust was heartwarming to read and entertaining to bury my nose in. I appreciate the faith thread woven into each of Ms. Beller’s stories and continue to look forward to what she will pen next!

Maisie!!! I loved her SO much! After reading the first book in this series, Courting Misfortune, I knew immediately that I wanted a story with more Maisie in it. And Author Regina Jennings did not disappoint! I knew, even after the first in the series, that The Joplin Chronicles was going to be one that I absolutely HAD to keep up on. The first was not what I had been expecting at all…It was so much more! And now, having read Proposing Mischief, I didn’t think it was at all possible, but I have fallen even MORE in love with this series! This book had everything AND MORE that I wanted in it! I stayed up WAY past my bedtime having WAY too much fun and laughing WAY too loudly, WAY too often, and at absolutely WAY too late of an hour, lol! Ahhh…I knew I was going to love this book. Now the only questions are: How will I be able to handle the wait for the next in the series?! (I’m hoping for a story for Olive next!) And also, how long will it take for us readers to get a petition started for the reopening of the REAL crystal cavern so that I can get a tour?!?

The Heart of a Cowboy takes up right where A Cowboy for Keeps left off. As with the first book, I was swept up into the thrilling world of the American west, ripe with dangers and unexpected perils around every trail bend. This adventurous tale was fun, exciting and hard to put down once I’d begun! Author Jody Hedlund has certainly proven herself to be an excellent author of historical pioneer westerns. And that last chapter! I’m left excitedly looking forward to the next installment in her Colorado Cowboys series!

I really enjoyed this continuation of the journeys of our friends from Ms. Beller’s Call of the Rockies series. Adam and Meksem were a delightfully adventuresome couple to follow, along with a certain troublesome equine companion… Author Misty M. Beller always writes with such an appreciation for the mountain wilderness in which her novels are set. It’s contagious! This book was a fun read and I was, once again, fully satisfied with yet another wonderful work by my favorite mountain-adventure storyteller!

This follow-up novel to ‘To Dwell among Cedars’ is an absolute MUST-READ! The emotions run deep and the lessons run even deeper for this incredible story about a man who must come to terms with the hurt caused by the perceived rejection of those who claimed to love him and the hurt that he has caused them in return. I cannot begin to explain how deeply I was entrenched in this story and how much I truly loved it. Ms. Cossette never ceases to amaze me with the versatility she employs in making each and every one of her stories completely unique in both character and plot from one another! This author certainly knows how to keep things fresh and yet just as exhilarating and with equivalent depth from one work to the next. I love how authentic the settings of Author Connilyn Cossette’s novels are. They really bring a vitality and vibrancy to an otherwise sometimes difficult to comprehend life in ancient history. It is something I’ve come to count on (and never been disappointed by) in her novels. And I love the big, cozy, warm families that the author never fails to incorporate into her books!

I really liked this book! It has been awhile since I read a time travel novel and this brought back the urge to do so more often. Starting off with secrets and action reminiscent of National Treasure, I was immediately submerged in a world of duplicity, confusion and doubt. Then the time travel came into play and WHAM! I was whisked into another world that was entirely different, yet just as compelling, if not more so! I loved William and Marian and was completely invested in their story from start to finish! Excellent plot, characters, historical detail, action, romance and story building! Five stars! I am definitely looking forward to the next in the Waters of Time series!

Dusk's Darkest Shores

This latest addition to Author Carolyn Miller’s collection of Regency novels is a whirlwind of emotion, deep thought and beauty! I’ve always been a HUGE fan of wallflower-type stories, so the series name alone (Regency Wallflowers) was enough to have me anticipating this book’s release. But it turned out to be oh-so-much more than I could’ve imagined! Ms. Miller never disappoints with weaving strong Christian threads into her stories and making you care for the characters’ spiritual outcomes just as much (or more than!) their physical ones. I love that! I was completely enamored with these characters! I loved Adam and Mary both to pieces! The story and the setting were both brought to the pages with such feeling that I was immediately immersed into the world of this time and place. I didn’t think it was possible for me to fall any more in love with this author’s work, but she proved me wrong once again. And I have every faith that she will continue doing so with her future works! (I’m so excited and don’t know how I’ll ever be able to bear the wait for the next book in this series!) (p.s. If you’ve read any of Ms. Miller’s earlier novels, you may recognize some names and characters mentioned in this novel! If you haven’t, it will make no difference to the plot of the story, as this one seems to be a lot less intertwined with the stories and characters of her former books as her previous novels were.)

Tidewater Bride

Take a journey back in time to 1634 James Towne! This novel was just beautiful! The language, the atmosphere...everything was sewn seamlessly to transport and completely immerse me into another time. Never have I ever read a book that so totally captured an era and location that, with every sentence consumed, it left me with no doubts as to where and when I was in the story. Incredible! I loved Xander and Selah, along with all of the supporting characters. (I believe I was repeating Powhatan names in my mind even in my dreams because I loved the sound of them so much, lol!) The tensions between the Naturals and the Settlers felt so palpable and added background anxiety into every decision to be made. And then, right when you have settled into the routine of colony life, BAM! Everything happens at once and sets you in a tailspin! (Or, in the world of story, is it a talespin?) Author Laura Frantz has created an amazing novel here with her Tidewater Bride. The setting, the cast...everything is alive and tangible and REAL! The story is begging to be devoured, the romance is waiting patiently to bring a satisfied smile to your face, the danger has come calling and is waiting at your door... Will you answer? (p.s. This is my first novel by this author. My sister loves her books and has been telling me I ought to read them. I should’ve heeded her advice sooner!) I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Yay! My first Jody Hedlund read and absolutely LOVED it! Such a good book! The author’s writing style was incredible! I haven’t read anything in a long while that had me actually feeling the mist and the mud, hearing the insects and the hoofbeats and seeing the dust, the dew and the majestic purple mountain sunsets like this book did. It reawakened my love of beautifully descriptive writing and brought me back to my Anne of Green Gables days! I don’t know how she did it, but this story was so ALIVE to me! The characters, too, were great! I loved the very cowboyish way that Wyatt spoke, lol, and Greta’s determination and perseverance in everything that she did. I loved Judd’s quiet yet straightforward and practical presence and Astrid’s non-stop activity and spitfire attitude. The shocks and awkwardness, laughs and hurts, scares and anticipation all came together to create an amazing and beautiful story. Add in a dastardly villain and I just couldn’t put it down! I tip my hat to Ms. Hedlund for this one and declare that I shall read many-a-book of hers to come!

This book had me held so deeply in its grasp that now, having finished it, I’m having trouble forming a coherent string of thoughts to be able to even compose a worthy review. It touched me so deeply that I found myself blinking away tears a time or two, only to feel a bubble of laughter rise amidst the tears, wrought by one or another of the characters’ timely remarks! Eliora (a.k.a. Arisa) was such a relatable character and I just loved getting to know her and being able to share in her thoughts, worries and discovery of the Almighty! She will definitely live on as a very memorable heroine long after you’ve finished this novel. Ronen, too, was a deep, insightful and unforgettable character that I’m loath to part with. And Natan (a.k.a. Lukio)! That boy! Frustrating and yet understandable, I can’t wait to find out what lies in store for him in book two of this duology, Between the Wild Branches! Having read through Connilyn Cossette’s Cities of Refuge series and now this book, To Dwell Among Cedars, I’ve definitely determined that this author is one to look out for from both a Biblical and historical fiction aspect, as well as if you’re a lover of romance, adventure and rivetingly insightful lessons on the nature, character and love and acceptance of God for all who let Him in!

Once again, Author Regina Jennings has created an incredible world to open your book and get lost in (no pun intended, lol) and I’m reminded why I need to make sure to keep up with her books! She is quickly becoming one of my favorite go-to authors (especially if I’m in need of a few good laughs mixed in with my reading!) Courting Misfortune is a beautiful blend of mystery, romance, comedy and a lesson in learning to follow God’s direction for your life, even when it seems it’s in the opposite direction of what it ought to be! If you’re a fan of Ms. Jennings’ previous works, you’re sure to be thrilled with this latest addition to her collection! I, for one, will be anxiously awaiting the next installation in her Joplin Chronicles series and snatching up a copy as soon as humanly possible to continue this adventure!

Author Misty M. Beller has created a beautiful story here of heartache and love and learning to lean on the Lord and trust him to take care of us. Join Joel and Elan (along with some of your favorite characters from book one in the series, Freedom in the Mountain Wind!) as they set out in search of his brother, who has been missing for months, and come face to face with one disaster after another, forcing them to confront and overcome the pain from their past. This is a very sweet little story that was such a pleasure to read! If you’re looking for something short to curl up with and enjoy within a limited timeframe, you’ll definitely want to snatch this up! Perfect little story for those occasions and SO worth the read! I loved this addition to the Call of the Rockies series (though it can also be read as a standalone) and will be looking forward to reading the next book in the lineup!

A thrilling and heartfelt conclusion to an exciting and thought-provoking trilogy! I loved “The Ravenwood Saga” so much! From the get-go, it was totally different from what I was expecting, from both a romance and fantasy perspective. Author Morgan L. Busse surprised me with her ability to weave the two elements together so seamlessly and in a way that is sure to excite fans of both genres. The descriptions had me immersed into the world that this author had created and the battle-scenes had me cheering the characters on. I loved Damien and Selene and found myself surprised to find I also had a soft spot for some less savory characters, lol! No spoilers, but I found myself genuinely surprised a time or two with some of the events that occurred within the story, also! Overall, this was a terrific story and I look forward to seeing what else this author has to offer!

Spies, infiltration, covert operations. What could be better? Why, setting it in Ancient Israel, of course! “Like Flames in the Night” is certainly a read that will keep you on your toes and in anticipation of what is to come next! Once I’d begun, I couldn’t put it down until I’d finished! Tirzah is a woman who has known loss, but is not afraid to stand for what she believes in and does not back down or give in until the task she has been assigned has been satisfactorily completed. Liyam is a broken, but fiercely determined warrior on a downward spiral toward vengeance. Together, the two of them must learn to trust in both one another and their God as they fight for the very continuation of their people. I enjoyed this book immensely, delighting in each successive chapter and full of curiosity and anticipation as to what would come the way of our hero and heroine next! This book (and the entire series, in fact!) is a must-read for all fans of Biblical fiction, spy tales or just a good book in genera! Bravo, Ms. Cossette, on another REMARKABLE read!

It is a rare thing to find a book that is so impactful, so relevant to your own situation in life. This book was one such surprise for me! I connected with these characters and was able to relate to Susanna, in particular, on so many levels. Author Misty M. Beller has a way with descriptive wording that just puts you right in the middle of another time and place and makes you want to stay there forever! The struggles of the characters were as relevant to people of today’s age as they were to those of that time. I loved the adventure, the journey, the aspect of struggling with familial health issues and discovering how the characters were able to deal with that kind of a situation. Everything about this book felt so alive and real and I am ever so grateful that I had the opportunity to read and enjoy such an engrossing story!

One of the main things about this book that I loved was how honest it was! I loved that the characters were so open and honest with one another. It made for a refreshingly new kind of a story! The historical aspect of the story was unique and I felt MYSELF getting caught up in the land rush! It was so exciting! The tension between the characters was a central element to the story and very well handled. Caroline frustrated me to death! Yet I LOVED she and Frisco together! I cannot name the number of times I laughed at Ms. Jennings’ humor! One of the great draws to Author Regina Jennings’ books, for me, is the comedic element. And she didn’t disappoint! I actually LOVED this book so much more than I even thought I would (and I EXPECTED to really enjoy it!) Bottom line: Read this book! It’s amazing! (p.s. I LOVED that we got to see from Bradley and Amber’s point of view also, as they had only a novella, previously, to shine in!)

Wow! This book was SO good! It's been awhile since I read a good fantasy and this one was just the thing to re-awaken my desire to start in on them again! "Mark of the Raven" had everything a good fantasy could have: a fresh, creative idea, amazing world-building, believable and relatable characters (along with some larger-than-life ones!), attention-arresting fantasy elements, an incredible landscape and the beginnings of what promises to be an enticing romance! This is the first book that I've read by Ms. Busse, but she's certainly piqued my interest in such a way that it, most assuredly, will not be my last! Ms. Miller's books hold the stories that I never knew I needed in my life! "Underestimating Miss Cecilia" is, no kidding, one of the BEST books I have EVER read! I loved the characters, the circumstances, the setting. Everything was perfect! Everything about this story was beautiful and made my heart sing! The depth of Ms. Miller's research into Regency-era customs and events is unparalleled! I always come away from this author's books feeling as if I've been living in another era!😍 The characters are ALWAYS relatable, no matter how different they are from one another, one story to the next. It reminds me EXACTLY of the way I feel going between Jane Austen novels. Each heroine ENTIRELY different, yet you feel in sync with their thoughts and feelings and never doubt the rightness of their decisions. Ahhh... I can't even BEGIN to convey the satisfaction I received from having read this! If you are a fan of the Regency time-period, achingly tender love stories, and/or faith-filled stories about trusting God's will for you and accepting His free gift of grace, then this is the story for you! Take my advice and read this book! (You'll thank me later. 😉) p.s. Cecilia is one of my TOP 3 favorite heroines from Author Carolyn Miller's novels to date!

Wow. Just...wow. I could NOT put this book down! I've just been devouring it, hanging on every word. Seriously! Every time I would closed the book to do something else, I found myself turning to whoever was nearest me and exclaiming over how much I was loving this novel! ( I had to stop this practice when I found myself repeating the sentiment over and over to the same people, who put upon themselves to assure me that I'd made as much abundantly clear the first fifteen times I'd related such to them! Lol) Really, though! I knew, when first picking up a copy of "A Light on the Hill", that I was going to enjoy this series. I just didn't realize to what extent! Such a wonderful story! I was SUPER excited to see a return of some of my favorite characters from this series, along with a few new ones! Hannah Grant, now grown, is desperate to travel beyond her own little world and wonders: Could there be someone out there, beyond her family's little valley, for her? Enter Nathaniel Peak. Strong, protective, kind, and gentle, Nathaniel has come a long way since his days in the service. All he wants is to settle down and breed horses, but dangers, mystery, and a certain young lady come courting, interrupting his plans and begging the question: Could God have more in store for him than he'd planned for himself? This Healing Journey is a heart-warming and adventure-filled story of faith and acceptance. I loved it SO much! It touches your heart and draws you into a beautiful (and dangerous) world that you'll never want to leave!

I know I've said this with every review I've done on this author's books, but honestly! She's the best! I've read only the books in her "Heart of the Mountains" series, but am without-a-doubt confident in my enjoyment of any and all of her other books when I go to read them. She has such a unique style and a talented knack for making you fall in love with her characters just as surely as they fall in love with one another! "This Daring Journey" is the story of a recently widowed half-Indian woman struggling to care for her tiny infant in a dangerous wilderness, surrounded by hunger, cold, and men of ill-intent. Enter Samuel Grant. Sent by his family to fetch a relation to attend a family wedding, he is shocked to find only the man's widow and newborn, living alone in a dangerous area. Determined to help, Samuel volunteers to escort Moriah Clark and her child through the dangerous Canadian Rockies to find her people. Along this daring journey they encounter dangers and unexpected surprises, including...love?

I LOVED this addition to the "Heart of the Mountains" series! Seth and Rachel's story was so intense and engrossing. I loved the dynamics and the emotional charge within these pages. The adventure along the journey tests the characters and keeps them on their toes, while at the same time teaching them that trust and change are not always impossible or bad. Ms. Miller has done it once again! With each novel she releases, I am reminded of why her books are amongst my favorites. With a depth of character, transporting descriptions, and a beautiful story of redemption and relying on God, "A Hero for Miss Hatherleigh" is another fine addition to Author Carolyn Miller's Regency Brides Collection and begs to be read and treasured! This story is chock-full of adventures, mystery, and danger, while still maintaining an incredible adherence to Regency-era historical accuracy. Caroline Hatherleigh's struggle with adhering to or disregarding society's rules wavers back and forth. They were made to protect one's reputation, were they not? But how can this sense of one man's life being more important than another's be right? And how can the concealment of love towards fellow human beings be beneficial for anyone? I am, once more, amazed by Ms. Miller's work and am looking forward to reading her next release, "Underestimating Miss Cecilia". Also (I'm not gonna spoil the ending for you, but) I'm DYING to learn more about Miss Verity and what the author has in store for HER!
