Will Grayson Will Grayson

Two Will Graysons meet in a porn shop. This book is all about acceptance, truth, and love. Even if the truth is tough or the love hurts sometimes. Written in alternating perspectives of both Will Graysons to tell the story of how they met and how their lives forever changed on that lonely night. I love how John Green and David Levithan detailed so many different types of relationships in this book--and made them realistic. It was heartfelt, at times sad, at times happy.

This was my first time reading Meredith Duran and I wasn't disappointed. Great historical, sexy hero, a woman who just wants to be independent. Read it. You won't be sorry!

When You Reach Me

WOW! The story is woven in such a way that there are so many mysteries unsolved… And you don’t start figuring them out until the end. And in some cases, you figure them out right along with Miranda. This was a wonderful middle grade novel!

Very cute and funny! The art reminds me of some abstract-ish paintings that I love, and the story is highly entertaining--even for adults!

Once Was Lost
by
Sara Zarr
Parisa

Sara Zarr's ONCE WAS LOST is truly a fascinating read. Sam's experiences in this novel were unique and yet she still managed to be a character you could relate to. The novel was rife with drama, grief, suspense, betrayal and still had the typical YA themes of new love, friendship, family life. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and wish I could go into more detail, but that would give it away! So just go out and buy a copy when it's released.

Gatekeepers 04 Necropolis
by

I won this in a first reads contest and haven't read the first three books. I wasn't sure if this book would be able to stand alone, but it did! I was never confused about what was going on or what had previously happened--there was enough recap of that for me to get by. The story itself kept me involved and reading. I loved Aidan and the four boy Gatekeepers--and that each Gatekeeper had some sort of power (and in some cases were gods/goddesses reincarnated--but not the typical norse/greek gods). The story had adventure, a quest, kidnapping, death, evil, magic...what more could you ask for? I'm definitely going to go read the first three! (and the fifth one...)

Perfect Chemistry 01 Perfect Chemistry
by
Simone Elkeles

Do you ever just feel like straight up contemporary YA about first loves and best friends and all that good stuff? I do, especially with the influx of paranormal and fantasy the past few years. PERFECT CHEMISTRY was just the book I was looking for. A West Side Story-esque tale about the perfect preppy girl and the guy from the wrong side of the tracks. (I love it when the guy is from the wrong side of the tracks.) This story has it all. Love, new friendships, old friendships, sex, drugs, violence, gangs, dysfunctional families, being yourself. Any issue a teen might want is in there. And the chemistry between Alex and Brittany is sizzling hot. Usually in books like this the focus is on only one of the main characters, but the chapters in this book alternated POVs between Alex and Brittany. A great touch. Very satisfying.

The Sugar Queen
by
Sarah Addison Allen
Parisa

I had high hopes for this book after Garden Spells and it sure didn't disappoint! Like Garden Spells, this book was chock full of magical realism--unexplained things that just happen to certain people and families. I find Allen's ability to come up with these creative quirks amazing. Like the Pelman's who always keep a promise, Chloe's relationship with books... Love it! The characters were really great.. I think that is a strong point for this author. The story grabbed me right away, but I was unsure as to whether I was annoyed with Josey or not. I couldn't tell what kind of a character she would be--weak or strong? Whiny or not? But I was pleasantly surprised. When the book ended, I wanted more. Not in a "the story wasn't developed" or "there are things left unresolved" kind of way, but a "that was good and I don't want it to end" kind of way. I look forward to reading her next book!
