Falcons Bride
by
Dawn Thompson

, May 10, 2006
The Falcon?s Bride, by Dawn Thompson, is an intriguing story that wraps back around itself like a bird soaring lazily through the skies on a sunny afternoon. Think you know what is about to happen? Think again. Ms. Thompson has surely used the falcon as her muse creating a mysterious, powerful and potent love story that effortlessly captures the essence of Ireland, as well as that of Ros Drumcondra and Thea Barrington. Drumcondra, the giant Gypsy warrior fabled to have made a love slave out of his nemesis? betrothed, is worthy of every woman?s erotic dream and naughty thought, but his life is one of much tragedy and loss that transcends time and the truth that could lead to the death of all those close to him. Thea, seduced by Otherworldly magic, is drawn away from her evil betrothed and thrust into the arms of an even more deadly man. But this man, like his falcon, will take her to soar in the heavens, plunge her back to earth and snatch her heart and love away with his talons of powerful passion, fierce loyalty and undaunting justice. But, the Gypsy warrior and his lady are not safe in either time and are forced to fight for their lives and their love with an evil that follows them through the ages like a living nightmare. However, like his bird of prey, Drumcondra?s attack is swift, sure and deadly...if he can travel through the space and time separating his future and his destiny. I fell in love with Jeta, who weaved in and out of the story like an invisible thread keeping everything and everyone together. Isor, the valiant falcon, is a comprehensive character, who deserves his own book and story...hint, hint, Ms. Thompson. Rarely is an author able to create such a complex and intricate story with success, but Dawn Thompson has accomplished such a feat and I, for one, relished each minute with The Falcon?s Bride.

Sea King
by
Jolie Mathis

, May 03, 2006
Oh, To Fall In Love With The King Of The Sea Love at first sight is what I felt for Kol, in the The Sea King, by Jolie Mathis. The tall, dark and ruggedly handsome king had been wronged since birth, but he did not allow the evil transgressions of others to consume his soul, although it fueled his warrior?s spirit and cast a dark pall over his destiny. Kol?s heart, however, was fated to be rescued and then captured by a beautiful princess, who had been wronged by those closest to her, too. Her gain is my loss... Caught up in waves of distrust, hatred and dark deeds, Kol and Isabel must fight the undertow dragging them towards death and break free from those who would seek to drown them in lies, torture and the weight of a traitor?s sins. Caught up in the innocence of forgetfulness and power of love at first sight, The Sea King will take you on a tumultuous ride, where the final destination is never clear, the characters are cleverly cloaked and complex, and the love between two pure hearts strives to beat the odds and live long enough to see the light of day. Mathis weaves an intriguing tale that takes you on an intense journey, where each page reveals a new twist, turn or truth to this wonderful story. You will fall in love with the man that Kol is but, like me, you will come to understand that Isabel deserves such a passionate and powerful soul mate for risking all and losing so much for the good of others. Duchess on the Run
by
Christa Fairchild
ayselarwen
, May 03, 2006
Christa Fairchild?s Duchess On The Run read like a relaxed day at the beach. It was sweet, innocent and enjoyable. But, like any good beach, there are always a few delicious surprises around and this book is no exception. Although delightfully written, you should know that Duchess On The Run also has a few moments that will demand you stop reading the pages so you can fan yourself with them. Fairchild?s main characters, Elizabeth and Graham, are good, honest people who have struggled with love gone bad, but they both risk all to try love one more time. Hesitantly, their love blossoms, while dealing with people and problems that threaten to destroy them and their lives, but they will need all that and more to make it through to happily ever after. If you?ve not visited Nebraska, might I suggest you go there via Broken Bow and Christa Fairchild?s Duchess On The Run.

The Ravencliff Bride (Candleglow)
by
Dawn Thompson
ayselarwen
, May 03, 2006
Animal Magnetism, With An Edge Sara Walraven explores the wild side of love with Baron Nicholas Walraven, who stalks readers with his sensual seduction from the magnificent cover to the last page. Struggling with his own private hell, Nicholas is not prepared to be rescued by a woman he thought to save from her own demons. Love may be the goal, but first they must face the obstacles of trust, forgiveness and sacrifice before, together, they find a piece of heaven on earth. Dawn Thompson writes like she is sitting quietly, observing her characters and noting all of the subtle nuances and intricate details of each scene that others might miss, while allowing the story to go on around her. Her artful descriptions make you stop and reconsider everyday things, like storm clouds and waves crashing on the shore, from her techno-colored perspective. For a time, Thompson transported me to another place, a place called Ravencliff.

Waterlord
by
Dawn Thompson
ayselarwen
, May 03, 2006
It?s like skinny-dipping...between the covers of a book! Dawn Thompson?s The Waterlord was a refreshing dip in a delightful tale of Otherworldly romance. The sexy and seductive Count Klaus Lindegren led Lady Rebecca Gildersleeve on a slippery, sensual path that took them from desperation and loneliness to passion and love. Forced to deal with the decisions of their fathers, Klaus and Becca forge their own destiny as they defy family and position for the sake of true love. This book dives into Klaus? strong embrace from the first few pages, but weaves its way to passion through dreams, fantasies and, ultimately, through the sacrifice of one life for another. The characters are people you come to love or hate, the descriptions are like looking at an artist?s masterpiece and the fantasy is pure ecstasy. This is not a leisurely ?take your time? book, it is the kind of book that makes you stand up in the middle of a flight to DC and scream, ?Take her already, Klaus, the anticipation is killing me!? (my apologies to everyone at American Airlines) As I turned the last few pages of The Waterlord, I discovered a keen, new fascination for waterfalls and a deeper appreciation for such a vivid author?s imagination. I would also like to thank Ms. Thompson for my own wonderful dreams of the Fossegrim, who knew water could be so much fun. By Aysel Arwen, Author of A Clan Chief, A Dragon And Evelyn

Blonde Geisha
by
Jina Bacarr
ayselarwen
, May 03, 2006
Jina Bacarr?s The Blonde Geisha is a story penned in passion and written as if the pages of her novel were pristine rice paper walls that are silently turned back to let us see the sensual tale of erotic discovery unfold as we travel back to 1890s Japan. From the once upon a time of innocent erotic exploration to the explicit education of the soon-to-be geisha to the passionate journey of self discovery and personal power found when surrendering to the other half of your heart, Kathlene Mallory finds that happily ever after rarely comes without great sorrow, heartache and sacrifice. Torn between the love for her absent father, duty to her geisha family and the chance for freedom and an opportunity to escape a destiny and death to avenge the lost child of a Japanese prince, Kathlene must forego her dreams and embrace a cruel reality or risk sentencing everyone she loves to death at the hands of a vengeful father and his merciless killers. Reed Cantrell, a man of the world who is still searching for himself, comes to Japan to honor a promise to a dying man?to find an American girl, left in a Japanese teahouse to be raised as a geisha. His search for the mysterious and elusive blonde geisha leads him to more than just the lost daughter of a loving father, it leads him to a woman who can fulfill his every fantasy and ease his lonely heart. The Blonde Geisha far surpasses Memoirs of a Geisha, bringing to life the scents, sights and sensual sensations that are uniquely ?geisha.? You will swear you saw cherry blossoms, tasted sake from a tiny, porcelain cup and felt the touch of a lover?s body on your own. Jina Bacarr does not merely tell a sensual tale, she invites you to partake in a pleasure that is exquisitely erotic and utterly unforgettable. By Aysel Arwen, Author of A Pharaoh, A Spell And Jade

No Law Against Love
by
Deborahanne Macgillivray and Leanne Burroughs and Cissy Hassell
ayselarwen
, May 03, 2006
From Sweet and Sassy to Sexy and Sensual...this book has it all! You might forget that Highland Press is donating all of the proceeds from No Law Against Love to breast cancer research, but you will never forget the brilliant characters that come to life under the passionate pens of 16 romance authors. While reading this anthology, prepare to break out in a sweat, bust out laughing and break all of the molds as far as romantic short stories are concerned. I was surprised, entranced and enamored of this fun book, but it will curl your toes if you?re not careful. You never know what is coming next, but you will embrace each twist and turn of the page, while falling in love over and over again with each couple?s romantic tale of adventure. And, while the journey to each heart may be short, the ride is nothing short of powerful, poignant and passion-filled. The delightful mix of stories, which center around silly laws still in existence, takes you on a wild dance through the lives of numerous men and women who find love despite themselves and the bizarre situations and laws threaded throughout each of the lively chapters. The authors and their characters cut the rug on the dance floor of readers? hearts and take us to their worlds, where cats aren?t the only ones who get stroked and officers of the law make sure the world knows there?s certainly No Law Against Love.

Highland Wishes
by
Leanne Burroughs
ayselarwen
, May 03, 2006
Wow...what a tremendous read! Leanne Burroughs? Highland Wishes far surpassed my highest expectations for any romance novel. Victoria Blackstone, a real woman who deals with more than her fair share of troubles, abuse and, finally, love, grabbed me as a woman who would stand up and fight for what and who she wants, using a kind, forgiving and tireless heart and spirit to accomplish her goals. Grant Drummond, a man?s man in every way, is not only handsome and virile, but a man who has respect, admiration and a big heart. He proves, over and over, that love is not simply declared once and forgotten, it is lived and proven every day, in many, many ways. It is said that war is hell, but falling in love amidst gruesome battles, injury and death is even more treacherous, although Tori and Grant finally find Heaven amongst the fighting, turmoil and uncertainty of late Thirteen Century Scotland. Burroughs? characters are not merely fictional acquaintances, they are now dear friends who will live in my memory forever. Reading this novel was like watching an edge-of-your-seat movie...it made me cry in anger and happiness, inspired me to believe the best in others and I had to stop and clap in sheer pleasure more than once. Fabulously crafted, masterfully told and written like one who had lived in Castle Drummond, instead of one who has only been there in spirit, heart and pen, Leanne Burroughs has earned her place in the tomes of exceptional historical romance novels.

Her Highland Rogue
by
Leanne Burroughs
ayselarwen
, May 03, 2006
Intense love affair...from beginning to end! Leanne Burroughs? Her Highland Rogue was utterly intense, from beginning to end. Catherine and Duncan MacThomas? passion blazes out of control from the very first pages, but is unexpectedly extinguished by a festering hatred from Duncan?s past. Faced with the dying embers of their love, the two have to rekindle their romance one blazing night at a time or risk an eternity alone. Their destination, finding true love, is the same, but Cat and Duncan must travel very different roads to arrive at the door to their soul mate?s heart. Burroughs is a master at taking readers through a gamut of emotions, wrenching tears from hearts and eyes more than once. She lets us experience each romance by introducing characters we would chose for friends and a few we wish were a bit more than that. Her Highland Rogue is an exceptional compliment to Ms. Burroughs? first book, Highland Wishes, and continues the heartfelt love stories that abound in the Scottish Highlands

Restless Knight
by
Debora Macgillivray
ayselarwen
, May 03, 2006
Forever Singed by the Dragon of Challon As I read A Restless Knight by Deborah MacGillivray, I felt the mysterious sway and ebb of the ancient dances at Beltane reverberating through each page. Mysterious, sensual and powerful, this story unfolds through a mist of ancient prophecy and the steel will of those who would look toward the future with great expectation and courage. Lady Tamlyn weaves in and out of Julian?s warrior heart, but I felt the author?s invisible tug at my spirit?inspiring intimate feelings of being well ravished and truly loved. Scotland, like A Restless Knight, is breathtakingly beautiful in a raw manner that strips passion to its purest form. MacGillivray tells a poignant story of love and the ugliness of war, but it is the way the words jump off the page and wrap around one?s heart and spirit that make it such a potent and memorable read. Each character is given life abundant under MacGillivray?s pen, but she has allowed them to take on a life of their own?spinning a tale that wraps back and around on itself in infinite ways. A Restless Knight will forever remain upon my shelf, its pages tinged with tears of great sadness and joy?the Dragon of Challon has singed this reader forever.
