Five Book Friday: In Memoriam
(0 comment)
Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. It’s a list that, when put together, shows just how varied and interesting the book tastes of Powell’s booksellers are. I highly recommend digging into the recommendations — we would never lead you astray — but today...

Hello, I wanted to be of assistance to those looking for the latest test prep book for the LSAT. The book for sale under this listing does not contain the revisions planned for June of 2007, namely the addition of the 'Comparative Reading' portion. I've just gotten off the phone with a sales representative with Kaplan, and they plan to release the latest edition of the test prep book next month, June 2007 to coincide with the changes in the test. The ISBN for this new edition is 9781419551352. I hope this is helpful. - Heidi, Powells.com

Hi there all you McSweeney's fans: I'm sure you are as anxious as I was to get a peek at what crazy new design the McSweeney's team has prepared to wow us with in this latest issue. I wanted to make a clarification that hopefully soon will be picked up by others in order to correct this faux pas in our listing. "What we are pretty sure is a volvelle", is not, in fact, a volvelle. "A volvelle (French, meaning to turn) is a paper disc in a book that when rotated can be used as a tool for calculations or other less scientific purposes, such as fortune telling. It is considered the first paper movable to appear in a book." - http://robertsabuda.com/ everythingpopup/volvelle.asp When the glorious expanse of the new issue is revealed, the layout is similar to how a volvelle would be designed; pie slices of text or other printings. If this issue were to be attached to a base by a connector in the middle allowing it to spin, then it would be a volvelle. Currently, not. I hope this has been helpful and do take a second to visit the site above if you are interested in movable paper. It's pretty cool. Cheers!
