War
by

This book makes no judgements politically or morally about war in general or the war in Afganistan. What it does give is a understanding of what the individual soldier goes through, and why he stays, and obeys. Set in the most active fire base in the whole country Junger lives with and describes what life is like there. Not showering for weeks on end, being shot at all the time. The bond between the men in the action. It tells the story of the soldier like "Dispatches" by Michael Herr explains the life of a Vietnam corrispondant.

Hidden Empire Saga Of Seven Suns 01

Really good read, but you need to do it when you have time! Series of seven books and they do not end until "the fat lady sings!". Great story about human arrogance, and what happens when the beaucracy takes away all moral responsibility. It also asks the question, how do you negociate with someone that wants nothing from you? I loved the charictors but there are way to many and the reason that there are seven books is because there are that many things going on. You have to read all seven, and they seem to all end in places where you need the next one.
