Chauvet Cave the Discovery of the Worlds Oldest Paintings

The Pics are Stunning! It is Incredible that we, in the 21st century, can view Art from the Stone Age without leaving our easy chair. The pics are better and close up detail than you can see by the naked eye in person! I am inspired to take a Cave Art History class and the Shamans who painted them.

Inspirational! Exceptional! Awesome! Breathtaking! Taking the disrespected and disregarded 'paper', that has been around for centuries, and creating Extraordinary museum quality ART! It is filled with many of those book moments that you Gasp with AWE! as you turn the pages. This is what Art is all about. Taking a simple everyday object and elevating it to create Remarkable BEAUTY! As a fellow paper sculptor, I am humbled at the Magic created with Paper!

by
ANN SWAN
Josef
, April 12, 2011
My first encounter with this Beautiful book was when it grabbed my attention in a library display. It is Very hard to believe that all the Incredible Botanically Correct Artwork was done with Colored Pencils! Wow! They look like expensive photographs. Ann gives easy detailed instructions and inspiration taking you step by step, from a simple drawing to the finished piece, with illustrations, though her creative process for you to follow. She lists all the color pencils she used with each piece and assorted techniques. Also, there is a list of art stores, Botanical Societies and Gardens. Oh, I love the pic of her in her studio.

Tales of the Constellations The Myths & Legends of the Night Sky
by
Marianne McDonald
Josef
, January 21, 2011
Wow! This book was a really wonderful surprise from the moment I pulled it from the shelf. The large format it great for viewing the Historical & Classical paintings depicting many of the Constellations in this Book. These Famous paintings (shown in Art History classes)accompany a drawing of the Mythological Being and a maping of the Stars creating the Constellation spotted on the drawing. Futhermore, Sandwiched in between centuries of art is a condensed storehouse of Classical and Historical Mythology and Folklore from many civilzations: Greek, Roman, Celtic, Native Americans, Persian, Scandinavian, Australian, Babylonian, Arabic Civilizations and even what Shakespeare had to say. This Book is a front row seat on a magic carpet journeying through the Constellations as you feast on centuries of Earthlings' Spirituality and Art from almost every part of the Planet. Yeah! I love this book! It is one of my treasures! It is a perfect example of why books are awesome! I am tempted to own two copies.

Pop Up Everything You Need to Create Your Own Pop Up Book
by
Ruth Wickings, Frances Castle
Josef
, January 10, 2011
This book makes understanding and creating a pop-up very easy for almost anyone of any age. It is the perfect bridge between not ever making a pop-up and the how to make a pop-up books from scratch, which can seem very comfusing. Here all the pieces are already cut out and ready to assemble and simple instructions. Gosh! and with on glue needed. The pop-ups are more advanced that just simple one piece pop-ups. Such as,the first pop-up, Frankenstein, is already assembled and has a zig zag cut piece which when you open the page emits a sound as another piece slides over the zig zag. You get to create this same sound producing pop-up technique later in the book. Also, this book is made of a card stock paper which when all the pop-ups are created leaves one with a delightful book for years to come.
