Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. Modern Faerie Tales 01 Tithe

This book is one of my favorite books ever (second only to [a]Lippincott's[/a] [t]Our Arcadia[/t]), and I've read a lot of books. The characters were rich and easily relatable. You find yourself drawn in by the word choice and description. This novel completely revamps the word "fairytale". It makes you think about the stories you heard as a kid, and think, "What happened?" I just love it.

This novel was simply amazing. I read it in just over a day, and it kept a firm grip on me from the very beginning. I formed a very strong bond with Lark, in particular, and found myself in tears at finding his fate in the story. I've been recommending it to my friends left and right, and I even got my mother to read it. The diversity of the characters made me smile again and again, and I can't wait to read it a second time. The effect this book gave me was nothing short of euphoric, and I'll be hard-pressed to find its equal in any genre.
