The first Blacksad paid homage to the noir works of the late 40's and 50's. Solidly written and drawn it was a first rate introduction to the characters.
With Blacksad 2: Arctic Nation the creative team ramped up the voltage. The complex plot reminds readers of Ross MacDonald where family secrets from the past haunt the present. Brilliant visuals capture a time and place. Racism and bad times feed each other as powerful "men" use them to cement their hold over the city. Only Blacksad's integrity can hold back the coming race war.
