This book was written in late 1943, and thus reflects the WWII mindset of American Navy officers. It is an excellent, first-hand account of life aboard a destroyer in the South Pacific, as well as an excellent insight into the determination that marked what has come to be called "The Greatest Generation", a determination that won a war against tyranny on two oceans and several continents.
