The first vote I ever cast was for Dick Gregory for president (Nixon won). The guy is saint and should be read by all progressive folks, especially young ones. The civil rights struggle that continues today was defined by Dick Gregory long before it was popular. He pulled me up on the stage at an 'End Hunger' rally and just told me to tell it like I saw it. He energized me more than any activist since the '60s and continues to work for peace, equality, sanity and healthy eating.
