Synopses & Reviews
The eighth edition of Diseases of Swine includes much new information and is more complete and relevant than ever before. More than 120 authors, many of them new to this edition and all carefully selected for their expertise, contribute to the book's 76 chapters. The new edition offers greater utility to practitioners by providing assistance in diagnostic investigation (with charts on differential diagnoses with the full range of clinical symptoms and presenting signs, including porcice reproductive and respiratory syndrome and other emerging diseases) and assistance in developing herd health strategies. In addition, the chapter on genetics now includes current and future application of generic markers and DNA mapping. The section on porcine reproductivity and respiratory syndrome now offers the most comprehensive and definitive information available; it is written by both US and European researchers with contributions by highly experienced outbreak and chronic infection veterinary practitioners.
