Excellent book from one of the last Elders and Traditionalist of the Hopi peoples. The struggles and history of the traditional Hopi way of life is detailed by Chief Dan Evehema from his 90+ years of living it.
The struggles of the Hopi people to retain their traditional spiritual heritage midst the hideous carnage of the U.S. government on Native Americans and the encroachment of modern civilization on their tribe, offers a truly stark insight on the important issues facing us in the macrocosm of our world in this time. The importance of the Hopi prophecies is also accounted for in this excellent book, and becomes remarkably poignant. The answers to why we may feel helpless to challenge or resist the "modern way of life," but why it is imperative that we continue to do so, are indeed interlaced in this proud Chief's narrative.
Highly recommended reading for all free spirits and concerned citizens of our world.
