The late Rabbi Dr. Jakobovits was an authority on Jewish Medical Ethics. Originally published in 1959 and updated in 1975, this is still the best and most comprehensive comparative and historical study in the field. Despite his heavy pastoral and communal responsiblities [Chief Rabbi of Ireland, Rabbi of New York's Fifth Avenue Synagogue, and Chief Rabbi of the British Commonwealth] he was on top of the latest developments in Jewish law, responsa, medical technology, and medical ethics. As can be seen in this book, he clearly articulated the Jewish view on these issues. It includes extensive notes, thorough bibliography and index.
