I have plenty of knitting books, and figured I probably didn't need any more. However, got this from the library and apparently I do need one more. I Have a book by Ms. Zimmerman that I very much like, and kind of stumbled into this one. First, the garments are very unusual, with unique shaping and "not your ordinary" knitting pattern styles. Second, it is about using garter stitch, and if you knit, you know it's much easier to knit the whole thing (which is called 'garter stitch') than to knit one row and purl the next. I've always considered, however, that the garter stitch wasn't quite as ... oh, crumb, stylish as regular knit. So, here's a book that has made me not only buy it - but eat my opinion as well. This book was based on Ms Zimmerman's designs and instructions, but was assembled by others, as she had passed away. I'm glad they put this together, and impressed, because sometimes "little old ladies" are a whole lot more inventive than the world tends to give them credit for being.
