I was honored to receive an advanced copy of Moment of Truth and I fell in love with it. I felt an immediate attachment to the main character, understood her immediately. I could see myself in her, which almost never happens. Instead of cursing out the character for making dumb decisions (like I usually do), I found myself egging her on, and understanding why she did what she did. It was absolutely refreshing to find a novel, which adequately portrayed the independent black woman’s struggle, without devaluing her femininity or exploiting her inherent sexuality. This is the third novel I’ve read by Sophia Shaw, and I’ve never been disappointed. My only complaint is that, the stories are so intriguing that I can’t do anything else until I finish it, so I end up reading it within a 2 day period, and it’s over too soon. “Moment of Truth” is a definite must read.
