Eagle Cap Dan
, January 03, 2010
In this book, Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas recounts his successful battle over infantile paralysis by spending time walking and hiking in the foothills and mountains of the northwest. We can see his love for nature and how time in the mountains played a significant role in not only healing his body, but shaping his character. I grew up near some of these same mountains, and 40 years later (at the age of 57) this book inspired me to climb to the summit of Eagle Cap with my daughter in the summer of 2009. I suspect it may inspire you to do something similar.
