Synopsis
This is the absorbing story of Swarbrick Hall Farm, the home of the author's brother. Swarbrick is a unique Norwegian Viking name and all Swarbricks originate from this one particular place. Swarbrick Hall Farm lies in the township of Weeton-with-Preese, formerly in the ancient Parish of Kirkham, in the northern county of Lancashire. This is the companion book to the story of Todderstaffe Hall Farm in Singleton, the author's childhood home. Remarkably, the names of the two farms are unique and have Viking origins. Their stories differ but each paints a picture of English history as it affected a very small part of the rural fabric of England through the centuries. Swarbrick Hall Farm was part of the Fylde Estate of the Earls of Derby for many centuries.
