This book is nicely done -- attractive, very relevant cover, decent paper and typesetting. The author explains his thesis in great detail with extensive citations and descriptions of research that support it. Sometimes he uses more technical words than I would prefer, but he is trying to build an airtight case.
A tremendous amount of work went into putting this book together, so it’s hard to understand why it has a great number of typos. I was astounded when I kept coming across a variety of mistakes, such as omitted words, duplicated words, the wrong form of a word. On one page two whole paragraphs are immediately repeated verbatim.
I noticed early on that the types of mistakes I was seeing would not be noticed by a spell-checking program, but any human proof reader worth her salt would have noticed and presumably had them corrected. After going to all of the effort to write this book, why did they omit such an important step? For me, all of the errors detract from this very informative book, making it irritating rather than enjoyable to read.
