Chantal Thomas is a noted philosopher and writer. She has taught at a number of American universities and is the author of twenty-five works, including novels, histories, short stories, plays, and essays of figures such as the Marquis de Sade and Casanova. Her novel
Farewell, My Queen, a fictional account of Marie Antoinette’s final days in Versailles, won the Prix Femina in 2002 and has been published in more than twenty countries. Its film adaptation, by Benoît Jacquot, received the 2012 Louis Delluc Prize and starred Diane Kruger. Thomas is currently working on the screenplay for
The Exchange of Princesses, to be directed by Marc Dugain. The movie will start shooting in Spring 2015.

He lives in upstate New York.
