Even though this book is not as tightly written, this is my favorite of Frances Hodgson Burnett's children's stories. As in her other tales, the hero - with the help of companions - must overcome a major difficulty. In this case the true prince of the Samavia must be restored to his rightful position. When Marco and his friend "The Rat" are tasked with carrying a coded message to unassuming people throughout Europe, they only know that they are helping Marco's beloved Samavia.
