Enter the mind of the fretful Private Andreas as he travels to his death, or so it seems to him, aboard a series of troop trains traveling east through WWII Europe. Introspection, regret, reflection, remorse and the meaning/implication of 'soon' run on a circular track through his thoughts, as he makes the last friends and acquaintances he may ever know. Is it all as bleak as his imagines? Just because you yourself cannot perceive the future, does that mean you can predict your own death?
Boll portrays his Private Andreas as a kind yet depleted soul, passing through various stages of grief as he crosses the boarders and milestones that count down to the exhaustion his life. There are no chapter breaks, like a train with no stops, taking you though darkness and light to your inevitable(?) destination.
