In the introduction of this book author Troy A. Waugh invites readers to join him on a spiritual journey along the Natchez Trace and this is a journey well worth taking. As he shares his thoughts and observations in the daily journal entries that he wrote, readers get a glimpse of the thirty-five days that he walked along the Natchez Trace, As I read them, I was both inspired and challenged by this almost seventy year old man who walked 444 miles and deepened his relationship with God. There are nuggets of inspiration throughout this book but two chapters especially resonated with me: chapter eleven concentrates on the Ten Christian Disciplines that all of us should strive to follow and I also found chapter 28 to be very enlightening as Waugh discusses Selective Sins. How is it that we consider some things sinful but are able to overlook others that are sins also?
This book doesn't offer detailed accounts of the physical sights that Waugh encountered on his walk but it certainly details the spiritual insights that he gained. If you are longing to improve your own relationship with God and deepen your love for Jesus, you will certainly find Walking with Jesus on the Natchez Trace a thought-provoking read!
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. I am voluntarily sharing my thoughts in this review.
