Synopses & Reviews
Child labor. Factory fires. Toxic dyes. Pesticide runoff. Landfills full of clothesthat never (ever) biodegrade. For an industry obsessed with change, its ironic that fashion has been stuck in archaic and unsustainable methods of production, consumption, and discard. Luckily (finally!), the tides are beginning to turn, and more than any other time in history the future of fashion is coming into focus.
Wear No Evil is not just another book full of stats and sad stories to motivate your conscience to buy better. This is the book that pushes you beyond the awakened state. Its the fashion reboot weve all been waiting for, combining style + ethics without sacrifice. After reading this book, every time you go shopping (online, around town, or on vacation), youll have a navigation system built in and programmed to your specific preferences and values. In three distinct sections, Wear No Evil helps you to reclaim your power as a consumer and stop making the world a fashion victim.
Part 1 presents the hard-hitting facts on why the fashion industry and our shopping habits need a reboot. Through cogent overviews of fifteen points of integrity in design and manufacturing, this section sheds light on the eco-fashion movement.
Part 2 moves you into a closet-cleansing exercise to assess your current wardrobe for eco-friendliness. Next, Wear No Evil outlines how to shop green within each fashion categoryfrom jeans to shoes to outerwearand presents styling tips and recommended brands for both men and women.
Part 3 shows sustainable style in action. Eco-fashion makeovers with stylish men and women present real-world examples of how to marry your eco-knowledge with your personal sense of style. Finally, the last chapter offers a directory of natural beauty recommendations for face, body, hair, nails, and makeup.
