Powell’s is Reading with Pride!
At Powell’s we celebrate LGBTQ books and authors all year round, and for several years we have marched in Portland’s Pride Parade. But this summer — for the first time ever — we’re also stocking booths full of queer reads at not one, but two Pride festivals!
Come visit us on June 25 from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. at Pride Beaverton, where staff from our Cedar Hills Crossing location will have books for sale and special freebies while supplies last.
We’ll be at Portland Pride Waterfront Festival on July 15 from 12 p.m.–8 p.m. and July 16 from 11:30 a.m.–6 p.m. Book lovers can expect dozens of titles for all ages for sale, special LGBTQ reading recommendation bookmarks, coupons, prizes, and materials from our annual Summer Reading Challenge.
With heightened nationwide censorship targeting LGBTQ and BIPOC authors through state laws and attacks on libraries and drag story hours, there’s no better time to celebrate the freedom to read out and read proud.
