I've mostly read romantic suspense by Cara Putman so this was a different read. Set in Hollywood during WWII, the bright lights of reachable fame are contrasted with the dark, desperate dealings that run rampant under the glitz and glamor. I had not known about The Hollywood Victory Caravan so it was fun to learn about this endeavor and to imagine with the author what a second caravan with B-list acts might have looked like.
I enjoyed getting to know Robert, who is hard-working, determined, faithful, and cognizant of God's presence even after a slew of unfortunate incidences. Audra is a fish out of water in Hollywood but is determined and self-sacrificial in trying to figure out what happened to her little sister on the cusp of fame. Her confusion, grief, and drive are quite understandable; her romance with Robert is sweet and tender. Some Agatha Christie thrown into the plot adds to the building suspense as the Caravan chugs southward and danger intensifies.
If you enjoy historical romantic suspense, you will definitely enjoy this book. I received the book via Celebrate Lit Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.
