Childrens Blizzard

A factual rendering of the massive crippling storm and loss of lives in the 1888 Blizzard of January 13th. As I read this book I couldn't help praying the settlers would keep their children home on this day. Intense reading which wouldn't allow you to put the book down for a moment. This is a must read for fans of history, and a well written true tale. Top rate-Five Stars

A break neck read FROM START TO FINISH. Hard Polo Players that will win your heart. Plenty of colorful characters that steal your soul. You will root and care for them. I completely fell in love with the polo ponies..they give their last breath to place the ball where the rider can hit it. Plemty of Sex.Parties, hard riding, harder playing.

Players

This novel was a wild ride and unstoppable blast to read. I'm always thrilled when Rupert Campbell Black plays a major roll in the story. In this delightful romp, all your favorite characters come together to form a televison corperation and take over the airwaves in style and force. Also finally Rupert meets his match in Taggie and everything turns like a well oiled wheel into mayhem and tears.. Note to readers: Rivals and Players is the same novel. I found out the hard way that Players was renamed but no way on the book rivals does it state this. (Until you open and start reading..lol)

I couldn't put this novel down. Sexy, funny, sad but oh what joy. Horses, sexy bullying men, heartbreak and more. Jilly Cooper will hook you the moment you start reading. Her descriptions of places, people and horses is right on the mark. If you want a oasis of enjoyment grab this book. I had previously read Riders and Polo and this one is the best yet. There is enough pages to keep the most voracious reader enthralled for days!!

Th1rteen R3asons Why
by
Asher, Jay
nancy

Thirteen R3asons Why by Jay Asher. This was a difficult book to read but one of the best I've come across dealing with teen suicides. If you have high school age children living in your home it's a MUST read. This one will shake up your complacent world, make you sit up and notice. Part mystery, teenage angst, you will follow the map with Hannah's words and thoughts.

Letters from Home
by
Kristina Mcmorris
nancy
, March 30, 2011
This happens to be the best first novel I and my book club have ever read. It centers around three young women who room and board together as best friends. It takes place at the start of WW11. Letters From Home is definitely is a 5 STAR read. Taut, tightly interwoven story of three young women rooming together searching for that special someone. It all started innocently enough when Liz meet two brothers who are ready to ship out in WW11. They meet at a local USO club where the girls meet there to hear Betty sing. .Betty a young flashy woman is a roommate with Liz and Julia. Fate brings Morgan McClain and his clown of a brother Charlie to Liz's table. Liz's boyfriend couldn't make it as he is on the fast track to a political office. In just a flash of seconds Liz and Morgan are connected with their hearts. Love at first glance?? Things take a turn when Betty grabs Morgan while Liz is in the ladies room. when Liz comes out she sees Morgan dancing with her friend. Liz is hurt but just leaves. Deception, betrayal, the grittiness of combat and redemption are the skillful flowing themes in this book. I was rooting for Liz and Morgan all through this awesome novel. Letters From Home stole my heart and placed warmth in my heart at it's ending. Thank you Kristina McMorris! I cried with many of the characters, and through out many of the scenes set throughout this book. All three girls..Betty, Liz and Julia are connected through out their young lives. All have boyfriends and major choices to make to live their lives to the fullest. Betty is searching for that one true love and is unskilled unlike the other two woman. She ends up in the recruiting office and finds herself shipped out and in the jungle not to her liking. The growth of this one character is enough to fill your heart with gladness. Julia is going to college and apprenticing with a seamstress of the fashion world. Julia has a boyfriend Christian who is in the Navy. When she finally returns to her old life and asks for a second chance of fulfilling a dream. Liz wonderful Liz learns so much of life and living, with letters she writes to Morgan under Betty's name. The deception gets out of hand quickly as their love grows through the letters. Woven throughout past problems with family come to light and growth in the maturity of each is astounding! I'm not a great reviewer but I dearly loved this novel and it holds a special place in my heart. I couldn't put it down and I was so touched by the travails all the characters went though to reach their potential. This book is a true keeper. If you never reach for another book do READ this one! You won't be sorry. By the way the recipes are delicious! I did the Marshmallow one and they are so gone already!! I can't wait to try the others!! I can't thank you enough for this novel!!

This was such a roller-coaster ride that I really didn't know how to feel. I fell in love with the Sawtelle dogs and Edgar. Edgar's dad's brother is a killer and killed off Edgar's dad. He insinuated himself into Edgar's Mother life. Edgar and the ending is heartbreaking. If you want to cry and be shocked read this novel!!

Brimstone
by
Robert B Parker
nancy
, December 15, 2010
I had discovered Robert B. Parker this summer with a copy of The Blue-Eyed Devil. I was saddened to learn this author died this past year. So far I have purchased 12 books of his. The westerns are my favorite especially with virgil and Hitch in them. Brimstone tops the top of my list. Gritty, sexy, and more than enough horses and the scent of leather brimming through the pages. You can't go wrong purchasing a Parker novel!

I begged for this book for Christmas and got it. It's a whopping tome of suspense, Murder, and out of this world reading. Once started I couldn't stop. The characters were detailed and you got to know all of the players. The ending threw me when I thought I would know how it ended. This is KING'S book of the Century..

Lady Of Hay
by
Barbara Erskine
nancy
, January 07, 2009
Read this excellent novel by Barbara Erskine several years ago. A neighbor borrowed my personal copy and that was that. Found another copy and I'm falling in love with it all over again. Set in modern day times it brings page turning suspense. The characters both villians and victims are running the show. Precise History from long ago add the allure of two books in one. I bet you won't be able to put this book down once started. How would like to be hypnotized into reliving another life before you were even born??

What a delightful surprise! A book at it's delicious best. A intimate look into an era that was won through determination, slipping back and pushing forward. Three generations of mayhem, madness, and a wild ride on the sexual side. Her charaters ring true. Villians, Klu Klux Klan, sex and desire. Simply couldn't put it down.

This book is sure to be a classic in no time at all! The characters come to life by the voice of Silvertongue, other wise known as Mo, father to Meggie. It starts when Mo reads to his wife and suddenly she disappears into another realm. I won't give the story away but it's a thrilling read for any age. All the elements are here, suspense, love, magic, Villains, Heroes and much more. If you love books this is a must read! 534 pages that end much to quickly!

The Big Sea: An Autobiography
by
Langston Hughes
nancy
, October 01, 2006
I picked up this book not expecting to like it, and was totally wrong! I loved it. The only thing I can say is he was The Jack London of the 1920 & 30's. Langston Hughes has done it all. A interesting, intelligent, highly dedicated knowledge seeker. He graced our world with his writers works, and possibly was the best of the Black Renaissance period!
