Expecting Better Why the Conventional Pregnancy Wisdom Is Wrong & What You Really Need to Know
by
Emily Oster
mybodymyself
, September 02, 2013
Back with even more observations of the book and its author Ms Oster. I totally forgot mentioned about postpartum aka fourth trimester, not labor and delivery. At least as I know of from my previous learning and researching regarding all of this. Have found that I have a love and hate relationship with both the book and her. I for one really prefer both Jennifer Margulis, Sarah J Buckley, their books Business of Baby, Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering. Over her, Annie Murphy Paul, Randi Hutter Epstein, their books Origins, Get Me Out. At the same time heres some authors Jennifer Block, Tina Cassidy, Martha Brockenbrough, their books Pushed, Birth, It Could Happen to You!. In which I have a love and hate relationship with them and their books. This also applies all other mainstream authors and their books that are out there. I really prefer alternative ones more then anything else or at least mixed of both alternative and mainstream ones. Think thats it for now. Thank you, again, in advance. Jessica

Expecting Better Why the Conventional Pregnancy Wisdom Is Wrong & What You Really Need to Know
by

Heres another article (Pregnant, and Disputing the Doctor: After having a child, Emily Oster wrote “Expecting Better,” a book that challenges the conventional wisdom on pregnancy) that I have found awhile back. I mean the day it came it out. I'm currently in the midst of reading this particular book. Its not like what the reviewer thinks it is. Well, at least not in the intro and 1st part of it, but the rest of it. But at the same time I have found that it was lacking certain areas. Like beyond basic conception, elective c-sections, freestanding birth centers, parenting, and maybe others. In which I highly the other book that I'm in the midst of reading Parenting Without Borders: Surprising Lessons Parents Around the World Can Teach Us, Christine Gross-Loh. Again, this is like a book that I have read earlier this summer, The Business of Baby: What Doctors Don’t Tell You, What Corporations Try to Sell You, and How Put Your Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Baby Before Their Bottom Line, Jennifer Margulis. At the same time have mentioned as well. In which both of these books and their authors like another book that I have read Homeward Bound: Why Women are Embracing the New Domesticity, Emily Matchar. Have also mentioned this book. Think thats it for now. Thank you, again, in advance. Jessica A Bruno

Heres my response to a email response that I got and which I wanted to pass along to you guys. Thanx and your quite welcome because as always been my pleasure for doing this. It includes all other authors and books in which I normally don't receive response one or the another. Still love hearing all of you. Don't worry about responding because I for one knew you have other work, and etc. At the same time I'm going to forward this, copy, paste this email in all of the threads that I have started. I just left a comment on your comment on my blog. Most of the posts are open. Glad to have you as a reader. I am sorry I did not respond sooner. Back with my final observations regarding this particular book and especially its author. At the same time I'm officially done reading it and etc. Found that it was indeed worth the read, but not necessary buy. Basically, that it all of it appears to be what I found earlier regarding it being more repetitive and generalization. Especially, compared to all of the books and their authors out there lately regarding these particular subjects and etc. Also, found that the author and including her partner are more self centered as opposed to being not. In which I would love to have found how her partner was bought up and etc. Because to me its just as important as hers was and etc.

Back with even more observations regarding this particular book and especially its author. At the same time I'm still in the process of reading it. Found out via the internet that early praise from Elisabeth Badinter, bestselling author of The Conflict: How Modern Motherhood Undermines the Status of Women. Whom or her husband or some one else in their family owns or is part of the a public relations firm that handles all of the PR for Nestle. In which it turns out theres a Nestle Boycott and etc. I really don't have anything else Nestle and the boycott because I have so little info regarding all of it. Prefer not do anymore learning or researching on this particular area of all of this because have no clue where to look and etc. Think thats it for now.

Just started reading this particular book, but felt I need share what I think of it so far. Thank you, Ms Matchar for writing a book on this particular subject. I for one is very passionate about particular subject for long as I can remember. At the same time I for one still waiting for my Mr. Right to come along, sweep me off of my feet, and beyond. I'm founding all of it being more repetitive then anything else. The author being more liberal then conservative in the book. Especially, with the vaccination area of it and doesn't even bring circumcision part of it. Also, would love if she bought up doulas, midwives, midwifery, and beyond into it because they are just as important everything else that she has bought so far. In which I wish that she would have done a better job of learning and researching along with everything else did. Because theres more all of this then what she bought up. I should know since I have been learning, researching, and beyond all of this quite some time now. Well, not in depth, but scratch the surface of it. I do plan on reading the rest of it after no matter what and reviewing it at the end of it. Think thats it for now.

Back with another review of this particular book and especially reading when it 1st came out (1998). Now, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this again and with the correct family trees. Unlike the mistake with one of the birth dates in the original publication. In which I have contracted Ms Muller and the publisher regarding it, but never heard from either of them. Here I thought theres possibly nothing else out there about her and all of the others that could possibly shed any light since the original publication regarding all of this. I do have still have questions regarding all of this. Especially, regarding what the heck happened to the rest of her diary and her sister's Margot's as well. Just look at Carol Ann Lee's biographies about her and her father (in which I didn't read and tried to read). Think thats it for now.

At the same time would love if the author of it would have done more of though learning and researching in regards to all of this. Not just in this particular area, but others and etc. Because I do know for a fact theres even more to all of this. It includes men, children, babies, and etc. Especially, looking into both the alternative, mainstream, and etc lifestyles. In which she incorporates into her next book/s because I'm really passionate about all of these rights and issues. Including all living things and etc. Think thats it for now.

Came upon this particular book when I was browsing through one of the local Barnes and Noble and spotted it. Now, I just can’t wait to read this book because I read both of Ms Palin’s memoirs (Going Rogue: An American Life, 2009 and America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag, 2010) which I found interesting in more ways then one. At the same time did also read her daughter’s Bristol’s memoir (Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far, 2011) which she wrote with Nancy French and which I found interesting in more ways then one. And Levi Johnston’s memoir (Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs, 2011) which I found interesting in more ways then one. Know that I'm only half way though it. WOW what a memoir/biography. Its really doing justice to Sarah, but her father, brother, mother, sister, husband, kids, grand kid, others in her family, friends. Think thats it for now.

All I have to say is WOW to everything and really have nothing else to add besides that to this book. At the same time this book is way better then Bristol Palin's memoir (Not afraid of Life So Far: My Journal so Far) with Nancy French. At the same time I'm going to include her mother Sarah's memoirs (Going Rogue: An American Life and America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag) because both of them embellished their memoirs. And Bristol's ex Levi Johnston (Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs)'s memoir didn't do in his.

Glad to see that DK also finally did a book and CD-DVD ROM on this subject as well. At the same time wish they covered this in their previous book and CD-DVD ROM . It also goes for their competitors as well. Instead of doing three separate (Body, 2007, Brain, `09, Complete Human Body, `10) books and CDs-DVDs ROMs on all of this. As for me went ahead, got this book because I found its way easier to keep track of and etc along those then the other way around. As for the separate books I donated them to one of the local hospitals in my area medical library.
