How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe. Charles Yu by Charles Yu
	Melinda Spencer, January 01, 2013 "how to live safely" was my very favorite read of 2012. I am a big science fiction fan and getting what I would consider a behind-the-scenes look at how such a universe works was absolute joy for me. I only wish it were longer.

Wicked The Life & Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire
	Melinda Spencer, September 03, 2011 A fantastic re-imagination of a classic story from a different point of view. This story shows the reader that there is more beyond the surface of any story and that everything in life is much more complicated than it appears to be. Every decision, big or small, can change the course of history.

Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman
	Melinda Spencer, September 03, 2011 A beautiful sequel(?) to "American Gods" about the most interesting and least explained character of the bunch, Mr. Nancy aka Anansi the African Spider God. This fantastic adventure of Mr. Nancy's sons is both silly and fun and also serious and heart-breaking. Any fans of "American Gods" should surely give this book a go.

Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
	Melinda Spencer, September 03, 2011 This is such a fun and light-hearted story about the end of the world and how human folly can ruin the plans of God and the Devil. Pratchett and Gaiman compliment each other very well to create one, coherent story about how the nurture of the WRONG spawn of the devil makes the end of the world less finite than either God or the Devil would like. Lots of fun with a more memorable story than most Pratchett books I've read.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman
	Melinda Spencer, September 03, 2011 American Gods is a fantastic modern book of mythology. Gaiman shines a light on the morals and priorities of a modern age and shows how selfish Americans can be with their belief systems. The ancient gods have been dragged to a new world to be forgotten and to die at the hand of young hip gods who will surely go out of fashion much quicker than the old gods did. This is a fantastic story that mixes fantasy and whimsy and the harsh realities of the America we live in today. A must read. It is my opinion that this should be a high school required reading book.

Fables Vol. 1: Legends in Exile by Bill Willingham and Lan Medina and Steve Leialoha
	Melinda Spencer, September 01, 2011 This is a fantastic and creative graphic novel series. This is one of those thing where if I find out a friend has not read Fables, I lend them all of the books I have. I highly recommend.
