The Seven Senses of Leadership: The Brain Broad's Guide to Leadership Sensibilities

I have never thought of myself as, or striven to become, a leader. I read this book because I am a huge fan of the author. And, admittedly, because of that I had high expectations; knowing that one of her skills is making everything relatable to everyone. I was not disappointed! The Seven Senses of Leadership showed me how to be a better leader, using my own easily accessible senses. It also showed me how to choose my leaders with purpose, and how to be a more engaged and intuitive audience or follower. I was reminded that in my role as mother, I am a leader; and I was shown the ways I am already gifted and the ways I can grow. I was reminded that my role as a participant is hugely valuable; and I was shown how to enjoy it with confidence and choose wisely! Also, I learned interesting tid bits about several other leaders in the world, living and dead. This is a fantastic, impressive, life changing, and fun book! An absolute must read!

Spinning in Circles and Learning from Myself: A Collection of Stories that Slowly Grow Up

Well... my review is a bit biased. After all, I wrote this book! But it's true that I love it. I was excited to gather examples of my writing over time, and to share my thoughts on tough subjects (mental illness, rape, poverty, racism) with my chronic joy and habit of finding actionable answers in the darkest rooms. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is I noticed a typo in the introduction. Which warns me that there are likely more typos throughout my book. Oops! That's what you get when you don't have the budget for an editor. However... The beauty of the story within, regardless of how awkwardly it may be presented, is the main theme of the book. So maybe I should applaud my typos! If you read the book please let me know what YOU think! ~Tsara

Grapes of Wrath
by
John Steinbeck

There is something almost more than real about The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. Though the story mostly follows one family on a journey to find home, it consistently invites us to consider countless others as well. Not just people, but all life as it struggles to survive and find it's place. I loved every single moment of this book! It's one that spreads seeds which you can encourage to grow into organic ideas, a story that not only tells of life but plants it! I almost wish I'd had a highlighter with me when I was reading. There are so many aha moments and well written gems of thought. But the bigger part of me is glad that I didn't write down or highlight the specific words, and instead allowed them to grow into something more personal for me. I recommend this book to anyone who loves stories with characters that draw you in and make you think. Readers who love diving into the lives of others in order to discover more about themselves.
