Die bereits 1881 erschienenen Romanischen T nze des Hamburger Komponisten Arnold Krug geh ren zu den bemerkenswertesten Wiederentdeckungen der klassischen Romantik. Der zu Lebzeiten mit Preisen reichlich bedachte Komponist, lebte, meist fernab der gro en ffentlichkeit, als Professor f r Komposition, Chordirigent und Klavierlehrer in Hamburg und Berlin. Die Eindr cke seiner ausgedehnten Reisen nach Italien, Frankreich und der Schweiz verarbeitete Krug in vielen seiner ber 150 Kompositionen. Diese Romanischen T nze Opus 22 nahmen erstmals die vielf ltigen Formen des europ ischen Tanzes auf (Flamenco, Canario, Habanera, Pavane, Tarantella) und schaffen durch ihre additive Orchestrierung mit Kastagnetten, Tamburin und Triangel ein feurig, s dliches Kolorit.
