Dard Hunter was born in Ohio in 1883 to a family of printers. By the time he died, in 1966, he was the person most responsible for reviving interest in the art of making paper by hand.
With one exception all of the material in this reader was taken from the reference collection of The Thompson Conservation Laboratory. The article, Ancient Paper-Making was lent by Dard Hunter, III.
