Synopsis
The book of Isaiah is a love story between a Faithful Husband and an adulterous wife. It is the story of God's unending love for His wife, the sons of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Israel). God remained faithful to Israel, but she went after other lovers, including the gods of other nations. God longed for her return, but she would not repent of her sin. Finally, He sent her into Babylonian captivity to break her of idolatry. Eventually, a small, faithful Remnant returned to the Lord and to their land. In Isaiah, this faithful "Remnant," are given blessings and promises of hope, comfort and deliverance. Amazingly, God extends this salvation to those of the Gentiles who also will remain faithful to Him.
