"Barnes's violent, haunted, and creepy novel about failing societies will attract readers of dark, postapocalyptic fiction." Library Journal
Synopsis
A mesmerizing novel that depicts the unraveling of a world made to be ripped from the news feeds: climate change, extreme weather, decaying cities, an opioid crisis out of control, an inhumane reaction to those most in need, and immigrants in cages in the desert. With civilization being destroyed in front of their eyes, the citizens of this parallel world aren't ready to face the problems until they are -- literally -- crashing against their doors. But as everything gets worse, with no salvation in sight, the only thing to do at this point is... watch.
