Bubble Wrap Boots! I love all the senses used when creating with squishing in the paint, hearing the popping of the bubbles, and looking at the unique patterns from painting.
Action Art allows kids to jump into active art using everyday materials. I canand#8217;t wait to use this in my classroom!

Iand#8217;m blown away by Action Art and#150; it is so fabulous! Kohland#8217;s art books are amazing and inspiring, and this one with Zaborowski makes me want to get up and move and make some active art! I particularly love the and#147;pounding paintand#8221;. I almost popped out of my chair and went to find my mallet! I canand#8217;t imagine how much fun this would be for kids! Move over, Jackson Pollock and#150; Action Art is here!

There is so much joyful energy in Action Art! This book bursts with color, fun and inspiration for young artists. I love how out-of-the- ordinary art materials are included, such as car tires, power drills and tricycles, and yet every activity is something anyone could try in their home or classroom. Action Art will have children of all ages exploring creativity with big smiles to match!

If you are an early childhood teacher concerned about development in all domains, Action Art is the art book for you! Not only will you find ways to engage children in meaningful, fun, and sometimes downright thrilling creative art activities, youand#8217;ll have no trouble identifying the myriad ways children are learning. All of the activities can result in powerful successes for children from exploration of media in new ways! As for me, Sparkle Spray Foam is calling! Got to go!

MaryAnn Faubion Kohl and Barbara Zaborowski never say, and#147;Donand#8217;t do that,and#8221; in their creative guide to active open-ended art activities. Children can smack, tap, spin, blow, smoosh, and more! When children manipulate materials and cause changes, they learn about material properties and their own abilities. Action icons guide us in choosing activities that meet childrenand#8217;s need for self-direction, all within the available time to set up and clean up. Iand#8217;d like to see every child experience and#147;Pounding Paintand#8221; where a tool for pounding is in an unlikely pairing with paint. Donand#8217;t miss the extensions, and#147;More Ideas to Explore,and#8221; as you follow childrenand#8217;s interests in investigating materials and testing their own abilities. I like how children and their adults can return to a piece of artwork and continue developing it with additional materials as they reflect on the action and materials that created it.
and#150; Peggy Ashbrook, Early childhood science teacher and author of Science is Simple
