Against the Wind by Amanda Cabot brings readers a second taste of her wholesome Secrets of Sweetwater Crossing series. I truly enjoyed and related to the main characters of Louisa and Josh, especially Louisa’s stubbornness, drive, and compassion. I appreciated seeing the lives of the characters from the first book. The town of Sweetwater Crossing holds more mystery and danger than its unsuspicious name and first glance. Louisa Vaughn never intended on returning to her hometown, but her compassionate heart can't refuse returning for a few days to support her grieving friend. On the trip to Sweetwater Crossing, Louisa happens upon a seriously injured man. The townspeople are highly skeptical of Louisa as a female doctor. The injured stranger, Josh Porter has a great appreciation for Louisa as she rescued him and set his broken leg. Josh's proposal for his grandfather for Josh to head up the family's massive business have taken a huge detour. Will Louisa be able to become her community's doctor and gain their respect? Can Josh figure out what he truly wants to do with his life, become a business tycoon or something completely unexpected? Can Josh and Louisa uncover who is behind the threats against them? Overall, I recommend this book and hope that you have the chance to read and enjoy it! Happy readings! Disclaimer: Revell graciously provided me with a copy of this book.
