About the Author
Carole Greenes is Professor of Mathematics Education in the School of Education at Boston University. She is author of more than 300 articles and books on the teaching and learning of mathematics, including the TOPS Problem Solving Program, Problem Solving Think Tanks, Houghton Mifflin Mathematics, and the Groundworks Series. She is editor of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics 2008 Yearbook Algebra and Algebraic Thinking. In 2003, Dr. Greenes was inducted into the Massachusetts Mathematics Educators Hall of Fame.
Carol Findell has served as a math educator at the pre-school through college levels. She is author or co-author of several books including the 35-book Groundworks Series for grades 1-7, Awesome Math Problems for Creative Thinking for grades 3-8; That's Logical for grades 1-4 and 5-8; and Problem Solving Think Tanks for grades 2-6. Dr. Findell has participated in several funded projects in mathematics education and several WGBH television-produced teacher-training programs.
Mary Cavanagh's work for Solana Beach School District and the San Diego County Office of Education focuses on developing model mathematics and science curriculum and professional development for K-8 classrooms, teachers, families, and for after-school programs. She is co-author of the Navigations series for PreK-Grade 2 (NCTM); Scott Foresman Addison Wesley Mathematics, K-6 mathematics textbook series, and EnVision Mathematics textbook series (Pearson Scott Foresman). She is also author of Math to Know for grades 3-4 and Math to Learn for grades 1-2 (Great Source Education Group).
