How can YOU help bring hope to our nation?
At a time when it seems that our nation is toppling over—morally, culturally, economically, and politically—you may be asking this question: Is there any hope for America?
Dr. Tony Evans says YES . . . there is hope.
In America: Turning a Nation to God, Dr. Evans helps Christians understand that at the core, America's problems are spiritual. And, God and His rule are America's only hope. As His people, God is calling us to return to Him in humility and repentance, to submit to His rule and authority. Only as we commit to doing so, individually and collectively, will we realize that hope.
Review
This book proclaims a timely and urgent message for every believer and church in America: we must turn around, for the road we are following leads to destruction. Dr. Evans shows that the real solution is spiritual, not political. His passionate call for a solemn assembly leading to revival must be heeded—before it is too late. Absorb these penetrating words and pass them on to others.
—J. Paul Nyquist, president, Moody Bible Institute
Tony Evans has a gift with words, and in this book he offers much-needed admonition and encouragement to Christians who both love their country and who place their trust in a King and kingdom that are not of this world.
—Jim Daly, president, Focus on the Family
It is hard to imagine anything more desperately needed in the American church than a revival of true religion. I earnestly hope that Tony Evans’ book will stir many to seek God with all their hearts. The Lord is our only hope!
—Richard Owen Roberts, International Awakening Ministries
Dr. Evans masterfully opens the Scriptures to show us that the cultural chaos around us is rooted in a deepening spiritual poverty—one that points God’s people back to a place of blessing and purpose.
—Frank Wright, president and chief operating officer, Salem Communications
These timely and poignant words from Evans will echo in the halls of church history. America: Turning a Nation to God shatters the idols that have hijacked our worship, even as God shakes the church to its foundations of prayer and fasting. May God awaken our hearts and revive our land.
—Wilfredo De Jesús, pastor, New Life Covenant Church, Chicago
When darkness covers a nation, God uncovers a voice. He unleashes an empowered message, through an anointed man, that supernaturally revives the church and awakens the lost. With every turn of the page, my heart turned to Christ and my eyes turned upward to the One who truly revives. If you want biblical hope that God could turn America right side up, this is where your journey begins.
—Byron Paulus, president, Life Action Ministries/founder, OneCry Movement
Tony Evans has assessed our condition as a nation, accurately diagnosed it, and is prescribing for us a biblical approach to returning to God. This is the need of the hour. Let's get this book into the hands of as many people as possible and simultaneously call out to God together for the next great move of God in our nation.
—Dr. Ronnie Floyd, president of the Southern Baptist Convention, senior pastor of Cross Church, and author of FORWARD: 7 Distinguishing Marks For Future Leaders
Tony Evans’ heartfelt plea for America to return to God with all her heart and declare a new “Declaration of Dependence on God.” Dr. Evans’ appeal gives the wisdom we need to live in a country where, despite having laws that legalize sin, we choose to obey God's truths. After all, it's not the law that makes a nation, it’s the hearts of the people who live in that nation. May we take heed to this message and return to Him as one nation under God.
—Lysa TerKeurst, New York Times bestselling author of The Best Yes and president of Proverbs 31 Ministries
Tony correctly understands that America’s greatest need is spiritual, not political or cultural. He urges us to take God at His Word and seek His face in an age when the church is surrendering the ground given to her by God. Read this book and let us believe God for the revival we need.
—Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer, senior pastor, The Moody Church

"e;First of all I would like to thank Moody Press for letting me read an advance copy of this wonderful book. Tony Evans is calling our nation back to God. He gives us a clear prophetic message that if we don't return to God we will face terrible times that will eventually destroy our country as we know it. He goes through scripture in a way of detail that shows us how Israel kept turning away from God and thus they were constantly being overrun by others, degraded by the culture around them, influenced by other god's, other idols, other sins that lead only to their destruction.
He uses scripture to paint a very clear picture for us that we need to turn back to God and thus renew our commitment of faith and servanthood to our Lord and Savior. Then and only then will we be able to find that our country gets back on a proper footing.
We just ended the mid-term elections. It was evident that there is a frustration on the part of the American people with how things are going. The democrats lost the Congress and the Senate. So, now we have a democratic President but a republican run government. How will this work? Well, it probably won't. But it shows that the American people are frustrated with how things are going. But their frustration is born from selfishness, not from a sense of doing what God wants us to do. We want what we want for our own personal benefit and growth.
But God wants us to turn back to Him and follow His lead. But in our culture today we have lost the ability to quiet and know that He is God. We can't seem to hear Him because of the volume of noise from our iPads, iPhones, Galaxy tablets, other smart devices and electronic versions of the Bible that make it easier to find the book the preacher is talking about. What happened to old fashion sword drills when we knew our Bibles and how to find the verses that we needed to direct us through life?
God is calling us back to Himself. Tony Evans gives us a clear and concise text that tells us why that is important. Unfortunately I am concerned, as is Evans, that America won't turn back to God but will continue down the path of it's own destruction seeking it's own idols of independence, financial security, military might and pleasurable activities that will entertain us. God will surely not belabor His judgement forever. We are right on the edge of falling over the cliff into total sinful death.
Please read this book with an open heart and mind and then spend time with your Lord and Savior asking for forgiveness and for clear direction on how God wants you to proceed.
This book comes out on January 1, 2015, pre-order a copy from Amazon, iBooks, Barnes & Noble or whatever book seller you use."e;

"e;In this compelling call from Dr. Tony Evans, he challenges Christians to live out the word from God spoken to Solomon in 2 Chronicles 7-10 saying, "e;...if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land."e; This is exactly what we need and Dr. Evans book gives much to work with toward Christians uniting to ask that forgiveness and receiving healing for our land. He does an excellent job of pointing out that the church has lost it's saltiness and no longer has the influence in America that it once had. We have given up trying in many instances. He also includes specific resources for churches to utilize in becoming united for the cause of serving a suffering world and regaining our influence. He tells of spending an afternoon with Billy Graham and during their talk "e;...Dr. Graham leaned toward me in his chair and voiced his frustrations on how churches would come together for the sake of evangelism but then go back to their own disconnected corners after his event had ended. If these churches were kingdom minded, he postulated, their collective impact in the community would have been ongoing,"e; (pp.139) pointing out that Christians are best and most effective when united, not when sitting in their own corners. There is much to read in this book about uniting across church boundaries to be effective once again in our country. I especially appreciated the background and history he gave of how the Israelites ended up where they were when God gave that word to Solomon and how that is relevant to us today.
This book is easy to read and I commend Dr. Evans for tackling a huge and important topic and laying it out in simple terms. We tend to think if the answer is not complex, then it can't be the right answer. But, is that not exactly what we are called to? Childlike faith with heartfelt prayer is what we are called to. This is a very good read and I highly recommend it.
In fact, I give America five stars!
Look for it's release from Moody in January 2015. I was given a complementary e-book copy of this book from Moody Publishers in exchange for my honest review. These words are my opinion."e;
