False Teachings; Some of the Beasts in the Apocalypse, representing Modern Spiritualism, Goddess of Liberty in the French Revolution, her Nudity, and the Frenchman's Chickens without Feathers, Novel- Reading, etc., etc, In the Gospel of New Testament Scriptures by Matthew, 24th chapter, Christ tells his disciples, That in latter days there will arise false Christs and false prophets, which shall deceive the very elect, if it were possible. And that apostle, the beloved John, in his Apocalyptic vision, tells us he saw three unclean spirits like frogs come up out of the mouth of the Dragon, and out of the mouth of the Beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophets, and adds, They are the spirits of devils working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, etc. And the inspired and marvelously gifted, illustrious Apostle Paul, in one of his epistles, tells us that in the last days perilous times shall come, and mentions characters, the most desperately infamous and vile, who shall arise, having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof, etc. Telling us, from such to turn away, for this sort, said he, are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women, laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (See II Tim. 3: 6.) But the reader is perhaps ready to ask, What have we to do with the passages of Scripture referred to ? And we answer, Nothing for the present, only to prove, so far as they servethe purpose, just what age we now live in, and what Modern Spiritualism, so-called, is, when viewed from a Scriptural standpoint; and just this, and nothing more.
